The Living are Hopeful

2023 has been a challenging year for millions of people throughout the world. Nigeria's case is infact crushing and a nail biting experience.

My crucial message for you and your progress is carefully prepared, putting into consideration your kind of breed and essentially what will appeal to you. It is wrapped in a velvety fluffy but woolly fabric, painstakingly selected to attract your whole attention and being.

A genius like you cannot be overshadowed by obscurity. You are crafted to raise the bar as you daily ooze hope by being alive. When you talk, words of hope is heard in your negativity. Your optimistic confessions exudes same. Reason why your living dog is better than your dead lion.

I just made a count of the hopefuls around. Indeed, your name surfaced gallantly. I really care less about if you have found purpose for living or not. Being alive is enough to assure me about your lifting soon from the doldrums of shame, hopelessness and brokenness to the limelight of purpose, grace and abundance.

At this time of the year, you couldn't have any choice-gift rather than being alive.
It is only the living that has hope; can locate the reason for existence; and achieve landmark feats.

The purposeful, achievers, enigmas, and pathfinders declared dead in the past or some moment ago have lost hope around here.
Only their legacy speaks volumes.

So my friend, cheer up! The best gift is being alive. Only the living have hope. Common smile! YOU HAVE HOPE. You will have freedom to fly again.

A very Happy 2024 in advance from me to YOU

Cheers.

You be man joor!

The new year is relatively here. Guys how are you doing?
You readily have your score card abi? No be lie. Well, I know the story. Yes! It hasn't been that cool for all and sundry. Yeah, even crosswise the world. However uncool it has been within our hustles, let's remain galantly hopeful. Just know that Inner strength to carry on is tied to the little hope you have left.

Think about it, with all your worries and fear, since your trials began this year, you really may have not added any value to your value base. But what else but more wahala.
Certainly sure is the inevitability of a friend or foe called change. From me to you, I earnestly pray for positive change as we all dive into the new year, yet amidst uncertainty about what lies ahead.
The horizon is artistically laced with golden shiny beads, beaming it's lights abroad and ready to reflect positivity on minds whose existence is rested on the ability and supremacy of God. He who is ever consistent with natural elements' work order from millennials of yore, can't be less interested in a beautifully engineered you called human.
Cheer up! The world no go shift if you die! Take a chill pill. The owner of your life is in control. He has loaded your mind with potent arsenal to combat what lies ahead.

Three things I will recommend for you in 2024.

1. Build healthy and non- parasitic relationships. Nobody climbs a hill or mountain without a PPE. You need relationships when the chips are down.

2. Build network - When you have a solid network, even your pure water will sell faster. Attend seminars, symposiums, be a volunteer, offer services to solidify your network base. Focused people even intern to acquire knowledge and broaden their network. What you get from it is referrals, recommendations and more leading to sealing contracts.

3. Be generous within you means. - Whatever you give will always รงome back to you. That my friend is the law of life not attached to religion.

Three things you must resist vehemently in 2024

1. Friends with no value - show me you friend... Any friend who isn't aligning with your vision and philosophy of life will always affect you negatively in speech, thought and decision making process. You can keep all manner of people if you are certain about your level of emotional intelligence. Be wise.

2. Take a moment before reacting - If you exercise caution before reaction as an habit, you would have saved relationships, gigs, and a lot more once retrospection sets in. Make it an habit to keep quiet and rationalize before any kind of action in speech and act. It helps a lot.

3. Not loving who you are - Love yourself thoroughly. Don't ever think less of what you have achieved. Self love is pure confidence. It attracts different people to you because you are very sure of who you are despite the volatility of human personality.

Conclusively, we grow older and never younger. Our cells gradually gets weakend by advancement in age. Don't struggle with it, you are getting weaker year in year out friend. Be wise to leverage on people around you. You are an asset to somebody despite depending on their tutelage or help. ๐Ÿฅฐ

I wish you a very merry Christmas and a well rounded, robust New year ahead.

Enjoy.

Hello folks, it is another rainy season. This year has been overwhelming and with its attendant negative effect on our infrastructure and people. As you all know, is passionate about cleanliness. We hope to unveil some tips that will be useful for all and sundry this season. Here it goes....
1. Flu is a common infection associated with this season. To avoid it, shake hands less. Wash hands with antiseptic agents as many times as you can.

2. Keep warm with woolen fabrics and warm liquid. Drink less of cold liquid.

3. If you experience flooding in your area, do ensure that when the water recede, thoroughly clean every substance that came in contact with it.

4. Keep your legs dry as hard as you can. You can wear socks always.

5. Keep your umbrella with you. Avoid long exposure to rain and cold.

6. Take more food/fruits rich in Vitamin C. Oranges, lemon, or pills.

7.Do not leave your wet laundry unwashed. If you do, you may be breeding bacteria and infection.

8. Drop the habit of biting your finger nails or nose picking.

9. Wear rubber shoes and slip-on. It dries fast and may not harbour bacteria or infection.

10. Rest pretty well. It helps this season.

Well, that's our bit for now. Take good care of yourself. Remember, we care about your cleanliness, with it, you can live longer.

๐Ÿ’ŠWHAT HAPPENS WHEN CHILDREN LIVE IN UNHEALTHY ENVIRONMENTS๐Ÿ’Š

Healthy environments for children: facts and
figures

Over five million children per year die from illnesses and other conditions caused by the environments in which they live, learn and play.
Around two million children under five die every year from acute respiratory infections, the largest killer of young children. These infections are aggravated by environmental hazards such as indoor air pollution.

The second most common cause of child deaths is diarrhoea, estimated to be responsible for 12 % of the child deaths under five years of age in developing countries - and a total of 1.3 million deaths each year. Diarrhoea may result
from a variety of different causes. It is frequently a result of the child consuming pathogens or toxins from dirty hands or through contaminated water or food.

Malaria kills approximately one million children per year, many of them under five and most of them in sub-Saharan Africa.
Dengue haemorrhagic fever kills an estimated 10,000 children per year, while Japanese encephalitis kills an estimated 8,000 children per year (90% of whom are under five).
The most common, and most serious vector borne diseasesare transmitted by mosquitoes that breed in water close to, or within, the home.
In developing countries, substances associated with poisoning include pesticides, carbon monoxide (released from faulty stoves), or kerosene used as household fuel.

In the USA poisoning is the fifth leading cause of accidental death in children under six years of age, principally from ingestion of drugs, antidepressants, a**lgesics, and household products such as drain cleaners.
Within the European Union poisoning accounts for two percent of all injury deaths in children.
About 50,000 children, aged 0-14 years old, die every year as a result of unintentional poisoning.

The leading causes of death from unintentional injury among children are road traffic injuries (21% of such for this age group) and drowning (19%). The vast majority of unintentional injuries among children occurs in low and middle-income countries: children in the African, South-East Asian and Western Pacific regions
account for 80% of all childrenโ€™s deaths from unintentional injuries.

In 2001, an estimated 685,000 children under the age of 15 were killed by unintentional injuries including those resulting from road traffic accidents, falls, burns and cases of drownings. Worldwide approximately 20% of deaths due to
such injuries occur in children under 15 years old and they are among the ten leading causes of death for this age group. What can we do to tackle the environmental risks to our children?

The Healthy Environments for Children Alliance (HECA)promotes a number of simple, low-cost, effective and sustainable measures to combat the environmental risks to our children. While a fuller listing of what is possible is available on the HECA website โ€“ www.who.int/heca/en โ€“
below is a sample of simple measures which can be taken at home or in schools.

Household water security
Safe water storage at home โ€“ and treatment of water in the home when its quality is in doubt - reduces water contamination and leads to proven health benefits.

Hygiene and sanitation
Washing hands with soap before food preparation, before meals and after defecating significantly reduces the risk of diarrhoeal disease.

Follow the WHO Five Keys to Safer Food to reduce the risk of foodborne disease: keep clean; separate raw and cooked; cookthoroughly; keep food at safe temperatures; and use safe water and raw materials.

Air pollution
Good ventilation in the home, clean fuels and improved cooking stoves decrease indoor air pollution and the exacerbation and development of acute respiratory infections.

Disease vectors
As children usually go to bed earlier than adults at the time mosquitoes become active, the use of insecticide-treated. mosquito nets and the screening of windows, doors and eaves provide a very effective means of protecting them
against malaria.

Chemical hazards
Ensure safe storage, packaging, use and clear labelling of cleaners, fuels, solvents, pesticides and other chemicals used at home and in schools.

Unintentional injuries
Advocate for safer roads and organized traffic

๐Ÿ’ŠHe washes his area rugs every six
months.๐Ÿ’Š

Tierno's house is mostly lined with hardwood, but he does have a few area rugs to soften a few spots. Those rugs can attract a ton of debris,
though. In fact, Tierno told the publication
SheKnows that carpets can contain around
200,000 bacteria per square inch. "That's
about 4,000 times grosser than your toilet,"
writer Heather Barnett wrote in the post. "At least area rugs can be taken out and cleaned periodically," Tierno told Tech Insider. You can scrub them by hand with mild dish soap or rug shampoo and water if you're feeling crafty, or alternatively you can take them to a professional.

๐Ÿ’ŠHe washes his hands frequently.๐Ÿ’Š

One of the most important things you can do
to protect yourself from germs is to practice
good hand-washing hygiene (which many
people don't do correctly ).
If your hands are clean, you're less likely
cross-contaminate objects in your home โ€”
such as computers, cell phones, television
remotes, and appliances. Good handwashing
hygiene is especially important in the kitchen, when you're working with bacteria-
laden foods such as raw chicken and red
meat.
Tierno makes sure to wash his hands frequently, especially before he eats or touches his eyes, nose, or mouth.

๐Ÿ’ŠAnd most importantly, he's not a
germaphobe.๐Ÿ’Š

Germs are everywhere, so you can't protect
yourself completely โ€” in fact, being too clean
could be problematic for your health.
So the best strategy is to know when to avoid
some of the most egregious offendors
without driving yourself insane. "You don't have to be a germaphobe, one thing I'm not is a germaphobe," Tierno said. "You've just got to be wise, be aware, and understand your surroundings. It's not brain surgery."

๐Ÿ’ŠHe sanitizes his kitchen sponge
after every use.๐Ÿ’Š

Kitchen sponges are ideal breeding grounds
for microbes because their nourishing, warm, moist environments supply microbes with a good place to live and tons of food.

Sponges can harbor all kinds of nasty
bacteria , including , , , E. coli, and
โ€” all of which can cause mild to
severe gut and skin infections. "Even if you rinse it and use some soap, it's not sufficient to eradicate the germs," Tierno said.

He disinfects his sponge after every use with
a simple homemade solution made of one
part bleach and nine parts water (you can
find our instructions on how he does that
here ). "It's very potent," Tierno said. "It can kill
anthrax spores."

๐Ÿ’ŠHe lets his toothbrush air dry in a
cabinet.๐Ÿ’Š

Here's a phrase that you probably don't
want to hear: "toilet plume." It's a little burst of aerosolized toilet water
that sprays into the air when you flush a
toilet โ€” sometimes reaching as high as 15
feet . "You donโ€™t want to leave your toothbrush out hanging in the air so that it can pick up
some of that aerosolization," Tierno said. For
this reason, he keeps his toothbrush tucked
away in a medicine cabinet where it's exposed to the air but not exposed to the toilet debris. Nobody wants that in their
mouth.

Continuation of the previous topic.

๐Ÿ‘—He washes his bed sheets once a
week.๐Ÿ‘š

If you thought your bath towel was gross,
your bed sheets are arguably even worse.
"You have spores of fungi, bacteria, animal
dander, pollen, soil, lint, finishing agents of
whatever the sheets are made from, coloring
material, all sorts of excrements from the
body including sweat, sputum, vaginal, and
a**l excretions, urine milieu, skin cells ... "

Tierno said. "Plus there are cosmetics that
people use โ€” they put oils and creams on
their body, all of that is in that milieu."
Not to mention the dust mites, Tierno said.
All of these allergens may cause you to wake
up with a stuffy nose, cause or exacerbate
allergies, or aggravate asthma. To keep these
populations under control, Tierno washes his
bed sheets once a week.

๐Ÿ‘šHe uses mattress and pillow๐Ÿ‘—
allergy barriers.

Allergy rates have been skyrocketing since
the 1950s . An estimated 20% of people in
developed countries suffering from the
miserable condition.
"You talk about why people have allergies,
everyone's blaming all sorts of things,"
Tierno said. "In reality, itโ€™s right under your
nose." Namely, in your bed sheets, mattress , and
pillows. One 2015 study found that feather
and synthetic pillows ranging from 1.5 to 20
years old can contain between four and 17
different species of fungus.
To protect himself from these nasty
substances, Tierno seals his mattress and
pillows in a water-proof allergy barrier.

12 ways a microbiologist
fights germs in his house

Germs are everywhere. It's a fact of life.
The bad news is that your home is one of the
biggest breeding grounds of bacteria, viruses, mold, and other debris.

The good news is that many of these things
aren't going to harm you. In fact, many
germs you interact with at home come from
your own body, and some foreign invaders
can even be beneficial .

But sometimes nasty pathogens can creep in
from the outside and make you very sick.
To get the low-down on how best to keep
your home germ-free, we spoke with
microbiologist and pathologist Philip Tierno
of the New York University School of Medicine.

Here are 12 things he does to limit his
exposures to potentially nasty critters. And
don't worry, you don't have to live in a bubble to keep yourself safe.

He washes his bath towel after
every three uses.

The moment you dry yourself with your bath
towel, it turns into a breeding ground of
bacteria; fungi; dead skin cells; salivary, a**l, and urinary secretions; and many other germs lingering in your bathroom that may have hopped onto your towel โ€” including droplets from your toilet. Many of these microbes aren't likely to harm you, but they're there, and they're
multiplying quickly โ€” especially when your
towel is damp.

For this reason, Tierno washes his towel
after every three uses while making sure that
it completely air dries after each use: "A
damp towel is growing," Tierno said.
"Wherever there is odor, there are microbes
growing, so it should be washed."

10 Germy Surfaces You Touch Every
Day

Many surfaces and objects you come in contact with everyday are covered in germs -- but then again, so are you. "Ninety percent of you is composed of germ cells," said Philip Tierno, director of clinical microbiology and
immunology at NYU and author of "The Secret Life of Germs." He explained that while we are constantly in contact with germs, only a small minority will cause any harm. "Of the 60,000 types of germs that people come in contact
with on a daily basis ... only about 1 [percent] to 2 percent are potentially dangerous to normal people with normal immunity," he said.
That works out well for us, because pretty much any surface contains some of these microscopic organisms.

"There's very few surfaces that are truly clean," said Dr. Aaron Glatt, president and CEO of New Island Hospital in Bethpage, N.Y., and a spokesman for the Infectious Disease Society of America. "You're almost never going to culture
something and not find some germs on it."
With that in mind, there is a simple activity that anyone can engage in to stay as safe as possible from surface germs.

"People should know that washing their hands is the single most important mechanism we have to prevent infection," said Glatt. While he stressed that "the optimal goal is to practice good personal hygiene, good household hygiene and good foodhygiene," Tierno also noted the importance of clean hands.
"You don't need to live in a bubble ... but you do need to be aware," he said. "You can touch surfaces, but just clean up before you eat or drink or before you touch your face.
"If you wash your hands prior to touching your face or priorto eating or drinking, which should be the norm, you cut your risk to virtually nil."

Purses and Wallets
Although they serve similar functions for women and men, purses and wallets are germy for entirely different reasons. "It behooves you not to put your purse on the floor or outside ground if you can help it," said Tierno.
But many women don't follow that bit of advice, so their purses pick up the bacteria from wherever they're placed --from the soiled ground to the bathroom floor.
While some might be willing to put it there because they think the floors are cleaned regularly and thoroughly, that
isn't always the case.
"The way these places are cleaned is not ideal all the time," said Tierno.
Instead, he recommends putting your purse on a bench or a seat. Wallets, meanwhile, pick up a lot of bacteria from what goes
into them. "Men's wallets were pretty bad on the inside," said Charles Gerba, a professor of microbiology at the University of Arizona whose work has earned him the nickname "Dr. Germ."
Paper currency has a way of getting around, from germ-filled hand to germ-filled hand. It picks up germs, viruses and often trace amounts of illegal drugs -- that's not just an
urban legend; several studies have confirmed that a majority of U.S. currency contains trace amounts of co***ne. And of course, all of that ends up in your wallet. Because men keep wallets in their pockets, the wallet is close to body temperature -- an ideal temperature for bacteria to breed.
"When handling the contents of your wallet, after it, wash your hands," said Tierno.
The problem isn't as bad with coins, largely because the metals -- particularly nickel -- often kill many of the bacteria.

Remote Control
The next time you sit down for a late-night movie at home, you may want to keep your hand out of the popcorn bowl if you've been handling the remote. People are constantly handling their remote controls -- and, as Gerba points out, nobody ever disinfects them. No wonder, then, that it is often the dirtiest object in a hotel
room.
Tierno recommends wiping it down at least once a week, and more often if someone who is sick handles it. Gerba points out that sickness will make the remote even worse, because people who have a cold or the flu tend to "jump in bed with the remote control and contaminate it."

Laundry Machines
The Laundromat is hardly a bower of cleanliness, but even laundry done at home is rife with germs. There is about 0.1 gram of f***l material in a piece of underwear, Gerba said. That amounts to approximately 100 million E. coli bacteria in an average undergarment load.
Image Unfortunately, only 5 percent of people use very hot water to wash their clothes and then dry them for a full 45 minutes, a
process Gerba said would kill more bacteria. Skipping these steps means that transferring wet clothing into a dryer leaves a film of germs all over your hands.
To minimize exposure to harmful bacteria, Gerba
recommends doing laundry that requires bleach as a first load to disinfect the machines and saving undergarments for a final load. He also cautions against using the same sorting tables for clean and dirty laundry since the E. coli
from the dirty clothes will transfer to the table and then back onto your freshly laundered clothes. "Your clothes are a lot germier than they were 50 years ago," Gerba said. "Never kiss anyone who has just done laundry for you."

Cutting Board
You may be better off preparing your food on another surface. According to Gerba, there are 200 times more f***l bacteria on a cutting board than a toilet seat. The reason, he explained, is that many people rinse off their
cutting board rather than thoroughly washing it.
"You have potential pathogens when you're dealing with food," said Tierno. He recommended preparing a solution of a quart of water and "a jigger of bleach" and then wiping down food preparation surfaces before making anything on those areas of the kitchen.

Your Phone
The telephone provides a convenient meeting place for two different sources of germs -- your hands and your mouth. After all, as Tierno, pointed out, "People are the source of most of the germs. These germs are not just from your hands, but sources like your saliva as well -- which is why the mouthpiece is often even dirtier than the handle. And again, it's not a device people clean too often, which is
why both land lines and mobile phones present a problem.

A study done in Israel last year showed that 20 percent of hospital workers' cell phones had some form of harmful bacteria on them.

Water Fountains
The moist surface area on the average water fountain is an ideal breeding ground for bacteria and viruses. "Everybody who has a cold or diarrhea has to drink a lot of water," Gerba said. "The sick people hang around here."
In fact, research has shown that water fountain spigots often have twice the amount of bacteria as a toilet seat, more than 2,000 microbes on a water fountain compared to less than 1,000 microbes on an average toilet seat. "I'd go back to the bottle of water," Gerba said.

Buttons
These innocuous-looking offenders are difficult to avoid, which is part of the reason why push buttons can be crawling with germs. Further, ubiquitous buttons, found on ATMs, elevators,
telephones and drink machines, among other things, are located in areas that are not often cleaned and disinfected to kill bacteria and viruses. Gerba noted that the first-floor buttons in elevators were the dirtiest.
"Everyone needs to go to the first floor," he said.
Worse, these germs get transferred to the body part that comes in contact with faces the most -- fingers and hands. While avoiding these types of buttons can be almost impossible, Gerba does have a few recommendations.
"Knuckle it or wait for someone else to push it for you."

Yoga Mats
Sweating it out with a yoga session can be a great way to cleanse the mind and body, but forget to cleanse your mat, especially a communal one, and all that work may have
been for nothing. Sweat and microbes can cover an exercise mat during a workout. This may not be a problem if the mat was cleaned and disinfected before and after each use and laundered sporadically. But if the mats are not cleaned, germs can linger for days.
According to a 2006 article in The New York Times, gyms and yoga studios vary in terms of how often and how well they clean their mats. Some put the onus on patrons by providing disinfecting wipes. And while thin booties and gloves are sometimes marketed
as no-slip yoga accessories, they serve well to protect feet and hands from germ-ridden mats.
For any gym activity, Gerba recommends wiping equipment and hands frequently with gel sanitizers containing alcohol or other disinfecting agent.

Airplane Bathroom
"These are probably the worst," Gerba said. "They are the germiest restrooms you'll run across."
But bathrooms in general are not as germ-ridden as other areas -- a kitchen sink or laundry machine, for example. Compared to several items on this list, toilets are a beacon of cleanliness because they are cleaned and disinfected on a regular basis, even public toilets.

Airplane bathrooms get cleaned, but the high volume of people they must cater to in a short amount of time leaves them very dirty very quickly. Gerba said a normal aircraft has one bathroom per 50 people. Discount airlines have one bathroom per 75 people.
"There is a thin layer of E. coli over the sink," and other surfaces, Gerba said, adding that many people, especially men, will not wash their hands effectively because the sink is small, and dirty hands transfer germs to the face easily. Interestingly, the cleanest toilets are probably those in public areas of a hospital, Gerba said. "In a city, I'd pull into the emergency room." Shopping Carts An individual probably has a fairly short interaction with the shopping cart at the local grocery store. Unfortunately, thatinteraction covers all the danger zones for contamination: hands, faces and food.

In one study done by his group, Gerba said he found E. coli on almost half the shopping carts the group tested. These are the microbes and pathogens that are transferred from the cart to your hands, to the food you select and then to the face if the hands touch it. Image
In addition, children often sit in the seat provided in larger shopping carts, adding to the germ load on the cart. "That's putting a kid's butt where you put your broccoli," Gerba said.
A shopping cart is a good example of an item where a quick wipe down with a disinfecting wipe and some alcoholic hand sanitizing gel recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention can prevent a lot of cross-contamination.
