HONOUR TO OUR MOTHER MARY, A HERITAGE TO CHRISTIANITY: THE BIBLICAL REFLECTIONS:
A book written as an exposition on the role of Mary in our salvation economy covers some major doctrines of the Catholic Church. The track is thus on Mariology. And as the title implies, Catholics honour Mary, and this honour given to her transcends all generations, even from the apostolic era. As a loving and caring mother, Mary often comes down from heaven to expose the deceptive plans of the evil one against her children. Mr Madudihe narrates the stories of Mary’s apparitions as avenue of communicating God's messages to humanity, with a survey of some apparition sites that have received canonical approval from the Church's authority. Of all these apparitions, the most spectacular one is Our Lady of Fatima, with its unimaginable and indescribable display of miracles of the sun, the solar prodigies.
Desmond Madudihe’s reflections typified Mary as the sign of Emmanuel (God is with us), as seen in the prophecies of Isaiah, and Simeon. This sign also manifested in the woman of the Apocalypse.
Mary continues to be the sign in our times. Unfortunately, many Christians have jettisoned this remarkable sign of God. The people can rekindle their faith, and begin to revere the Blessed Virgin as has been done over many centuries ago―wherefore Mary exclaimed, ”… For, behold, henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.” Desmond Madudihe in his reflections therefore attempts to sensitize the people, and offers them a fascinating opportunity to read and embrace the practice of ardent love for Mary. And while Mary's children revere her, they gain special affiliation to her as she recommends them to Christ, her Son, which will ultimately lead them to heaven.
