Don’t send that code: How not to get hacked.
A lot of people have lost fortune in terms of money and other valuable materials like their social media pages to scammers.
One thing that's consistent in all these scenarios is that the victims received a code and someone called them to ask for the code which they ignorantly send to them.
While I'll advise that you have 2 step verification set up on all your accounts.
Avoid using your birthday, phone number or other simple to guess ideas as pin codes or passwords.
Stop filling every form that you see online.
Not every link they send to you should be clicked.
Also; when logging in your sensitive information; ensure to verify that the website is the correct one. Do not your login information on other people’s device or computer.
No matter how similar they look; unionbank.com isn't the same as unonbank.com. Even if it's one letter that's missing don't proceed.
Always download your bank's authentic app from their website or Play store, don't let anyone send you a link to download your bank's app.
Not all calls you need to pick. If you pick a strange number verify who they're before giving them any information. And if they ask for too much information end the call, block them and call the organization that they claim to represent.
Also; ask for their work details like name, position held in the company and who their superior is, you can even ask for their office address and more, which will most likely make them feel uncomfortable and end the call.
The most important warning I can give to you is: Don't Send That Code!
No matter who it is that's calling you! Don't send that code.
No organization that you have an account with will ask you to send them any code for whatever reason because they have their own in-house way of validating your information.
In case you don't know; those organizations have your vital information as given to them when you signed up.
For the last time I'm saying don't send that code.
I know these scammers won't be happy with this and they also don't want you to know it.
The truth remains: Don't send that code!
Feel free to send this article to your loved ones especially the elderly ones who are not so tech savvy, this may be their saving grace against that scammer.
