The Greeks and Romans once sat at the feet of the Egyptians. Admiration turned into jealousy which leads to contempt. How soon do we forget?

The Greeks visited Egypt (kemet) as students to learn and study things we Africans knew before they later came back to invade and destroy the great libraries and scatter us into different places before the Arabs invaded again.

Plato studied in Egypt for 13 years.

Pythagoras studied philosophy, geometry and medicine in Egypt for 22 years.

Thales, the first Greek philosopher to study in Egypt for 7 years.

Hypocrates, who is called father of medicine, recognized the Egyptian multi genius, Imhotep as the father of medicine.

The "Pythagorean Theorem" used to build pyramids in Egypt 1000 years before Pythagorean was born.

Plato said Egyptian education makes students more alert and humane.

Plato told his students to go to Egypt if they wanted to study the minds of great philosophers.

Heredotus, the Greek historian described ancient Egypt as the cradle of civilization.

Our ancestors opened the doors of our Nation to foreign peoples, these guests were welcomed with respect and honor according to our traditions but they used our kindness to destroy our Nation.

History:

The truth is during the course of history, Egypt was invaded or conquered by a number of foreign powers, including the Hyksos, the Libyans, the Assyrians, the Achaemenid Persians, and the Macedonians under Alexander the Great.

After the fall of Rome, Egypt became part of the Byzantine Empire, until it was conquered by the Muslim Arabs in 641 CE. Throughout the Middle Ages, from its conquest by the Islamic Empire in the year 641 until 1517, Egypt was governed as part of a series of Arab Caliphates.

The Arab conquest of Egypt, was led by the army of 'Amr ibn al-'As, took place between 639 and again 646 AD and was overseen by the Rashidun Caliphate. It ended the seven-century-long period of Roman reign over Egypt that began in 30 BC.

THE BRITISH EMPIRE ADOPTED THE GREGORIAN CALENDAR 272 YEARS AGO

The present calendar, called the Gregorian calendar, was introduced by Pope Gregory XIII in October 1582 to replace the Julian calendar introduced by Julius Caesar in 46 BC.

"The principal change was to space leap years differently so as to make the average calendar year 365.2425 days long."

All Catholic countries adopted the new calendar. Others rejected it.

Britain (and her colonies) saw the new change as another papal strategy of dominating others and thus refused to adopt it till 1752.

To adopt the Gregorian calendar, "it was decided that Wednesday 2nd September 1752 would be followed by Thursday 14th September 1752."

By adopting the new calendar, 11 days were "lost"

The change affected salaries, disrupted house rent agreements, contracts, birthdays, anniversaries, etc.

An unconfirned history said that this gave rise to street protests where the people were chanting: give us back our eleven days.

To adapt to the new calendar, the Christmas day was moved from 06/07 January back to December 25.

A serious opponent to the Christmas day change was the Orthodox Church which still uses the old calendar to celebrate Christmas to date.

Chapter 20

Ha! Who else could it be? Obviously, he was talking about her.

Clearly, he was trying to explain the marriage certificate issue to his real love.

Dorothy felt like a clown right now. She was intruding on the perfect couple’s life.

She was puzzled before as to why Everett chose her, but now it all made sense.

No wonder he once said she was the perfect fit. After all, without blood ties, it was really hard to find a face similar to his sweetheart. She was basically bom to be a “Heather-stand-in.”

Dorothy didn’t know whether to despise or be grateful for this coincidence. Without the title of substitute, her mother wouldn’t have had the money for her surgery.

After seeing Dorothy’s conflicted expression, Heather knew she must not recognize her and probably misunderstood something.

But she liked this misunderstanding.

After a brief pause, she put down her wine glass, gestured for her to sit down with a gentle look, then walked to the lounge door, softly saying to the people inside. “I’m back now, and I plan to stay for a while, so we can face this together with you.”

“That’s best.”

Dorothy couldn’t take it anymore. A surge of emotion overwhelmed her, driving her to take two steps back and lower her voice. “It seems like Mr. Lopez is occupied. I’ll come back later.”

Without waiting for a reply, she just left.

Heather watched the closing door as she lifted her red lips slightly. Her tone returned to normal. “Everett, you can rest assured and fire that legal department substitute. With me here, no one can slander the Lopez Corporation.”

The lounge door finally opened, and Everett came out with a solemn face while buttoning up his shirt with his slender fingers.

“Thanks for your hard work.”

Heather wanted to lend a hand but was consciously avoided by Everett,

He was always like this, never giving her any opportunity to get close.

Her fingertips stiffened briefly, but Heather covered it up with a smile. “Your obsessive cleanliness is still so severe. We’re old friends, and you can’t even touch me. What will you do when you get married?”

Everett didn’t answer. He took a look at the office door and then frowned. “Was there… someone here just now?”

“Nope.” Heather replied calmly. “Who was supposed to come?”

“Hmm, someone you don’t know.” He sat back in his chair with his long legs crossed. “Go find Jeffrey first. Text me when you’ve decided where to meet.”

With this clear hint to leave, what else could Heather say?

“Alright, I won’t disturb your work then.”

After she left, Everett picked up the office phone to call Dorothy again. But he hesitated and then sent a text from his cell phone.

“Come straight to Bay Residence after work.”

Bay Residence was the name of his place..

It took a while for her to reply

“I can’t. I have to be with my mom tonight. Also, it’s work hours, so do you need anything, Mr. Lopez?”

She really did throw his words back at him.

Everett couldn’t help but laugh.

Dorothy had always been like this since middle school. Despite seeming like she could endure and was easy to get along with, she was actually sensitive, sharp, and had low self-esteem, always ready with her claws to fend off anyone who tried to get close.

He knew that behind her tough exterior were countless grievances and heartaches that led to this.

“Yeah, about the SinoSuccess Enterprises project.”

“I’ll work two hours overtime, so I should be there around eight.”

In the office, Dorothy looked at the text message on her phone again, somewhat puzzled.

Everett’s real love was back, so why did he want her to go to Bay Residence? Surely he didn’t want her to watch them.

Could it be that he wanted to talk about terminating the contract?

After thinking about this, Dorothy started to feel agitated.

It wasn’t that she couldn’t let go of Everett, but mainly because her mother’s surgery was imminent. Without Everett’s insistence, she was afraid the doctors wouldn’t be as conscientious.

But the rightful person was back. She couldn’t keep occupying someone else’s nest.

Chapter 19

A stern warning jolted Dorothy awake.

How could she be so sure that Everett would turn a blind eye to her application just because they had slept together?

She shouldn’t forget that he paid for that. It was a transaction, after all. There was no room for emotions.

“Nothing more. I’m sorry for bothering you, Mr. Lopez.” She quickly hung up the phone, not waiting for his response.

This felt like a slap in her face.

Meanwhile, Mr. Percy got the news and stormed into the room, fuming.

“I told you it wouldn’t work, Dorothy! Who do you think you are? Do you think I can trust you again? I did this time, and now look what happened!”

As Mr. Percy began to berate her, Karen rushed over to defend Dorothy. “Mr. Percy, Dorothy’s mother just had an accident. Can you cut her some slack?”

“Cut her some slack? Who the hell is going to cut me some slack?” Mr. Percy slammed his hand on the table. “Alright, Dorothy, don’t say I didn’t warn you. The SinoSuccess Enterprises project was your request. If it’s not launched, you can pack your bags and get out!

Dorothy rose from her seat and bowed deeply. “I apologize, Mr. Percy. I won’t give up on the SinoSuccess Enterprises project.”

“You better not be blowing hot air!” With that, Mr. Percy stormed out, slamming the door behind him.

Karen was even angrier than Mr. Percy. “Don’t be afraid of him, Dorothy! If it comes to it, we can just quit. I’m with you!”

“I’m fine.” Dorothy took a deep breath, adjusting her state of mind. She turned her gaze back to her computer. “I must secure the SinoSuccess Enterprises project. I need to regain the dignity I lost today.”

Suddenly, the office phone rang. Dorothy answered it. It was a familiar voice.

“Ms. Sanchez, Mr. Lopez asked you to come to his office.”

He was back from his trip?

Dorothy ascended the stairs in her high heels, arriving at the CEO’s office.

She knew Everett had no obligation to give her any favors at work, so she had no right to hold any emotions against him.

Knock, knock.

To her surprise, a woman’s voice answered from inside.

“Come in.”

She stepped in, but Everett was nowhere to be found. Only a woman holding a wine glass was present.

The woman was beautiful and radiated unbreakable confidence from the inside out. She was wearing a high-end pale purple dress that accentuated her graceful figure. She carried an air of elegance similar to Everett’s.

What really took Dorothy aback was her face. It bore a striking resemblance to her own.

“Who are you?” The woman was also surprised to see her.

“I’m Dorothy from the Prosperity Consortium’s investment team. Mr. Lopez asked me to come.”

“Oh.” The woman, Heather, pointed towards the dressing room. “Everett is changing. Please wait a moment.”

Dorothy nodded. In the next second, she heard Everett’s icy voice. “She’s only fit to be a substitute.”

Chapter 18

That night, Dorothy slept for just three hours.

When she woke up the next day, Everett was already gone.

On the dining table, he had left her breakfast. It was still hot, and there was a note next to it.

“Gone on a business trip. I’ll be back next week.” It was signed with a single word: Everett.

Dorothy looked at the note and then at the breakfast on the table. She really couldn’t connect the Everett she knew in private with the cold, iceberg-like man in the office.

At home, he could be considered gentle. Even when he demanded s*x last night, he was gentle, as if he were afraid to hurt her.

If it weren’t for the tattoo, she would almost feel like Everett was interested in her.

Suddenly, Dorothy felt that the woman he had cherished in his heart for many years was really enviable.

When she got to the office, Dorothy started writing a loan application after the morning meeting.

Around noon, Mr. Percy suddenly barged into her office, looking unhappy. “You’re planning to apply for a loan from the head office? Our team just made a major mistake; you think they’ll approve?”

“They’ll approve.” Dorothy was sure. “Don’t worry.”

This idea was inspired by Everett, and, after their intimate time last night, he should give her this favor, right?

Everett clearly understood how important this project was to her.

“I can see you’ve improved, but getting this far is not easy. This does not seem very feasible. The SinoSuccess Enterprises project itself is risky.” Mr. Percy frowned. “Think of something else.”

“But this is the fastest way to start the SinoSuccess Enterprises project. Mr. Percy, just trust me this once.”

She was more anxious than Mr. Percy.

If the SinoSuccess Enterprises project succeeded, she could pay back Everett’s money this year.

Mr. Percy pondered for a moment. Although he didn’t know what exactly had happened, he, an old fox, still sensed something unusual.

“Fine, I’ll trust you this once. Do a good job. The next project is bigger than SinoSuccess Enterprises.”

Dorothy nodded with a smile as she watched Mr. Percy leave.

Back at her seat, she thought for a moment, then took out her phone and sent a message to Everett’s number.

“I’ve submitted the application.”

While looking at the phone screen, Dorothy hesitated for a moment, then added another message. “Are you on the plane? Have a safe
trip.”

It took him a while to reply with just one word. “Busy.”

Dorothy quickly deleted the messages and put away her phone, thinking about how the performance of Team 3 will revive once the SinoSuccess Enterprises project started.

By then, Mr. Percy will most likely hand the next project over to her.

Not only that, her year-end bonus should be around a few tens of thousands. This plus the project commission and her basic salary might be enough to cover her mother’s medical bills without Everett’s help.

She suddenly felt hopeful about life. Even if she had to work overtime until late in the night and then go to the hospital to keep her mother company during the days when Everett was on a business trip, she’d still cheerfully smile every day.

Every day when she got to the office, the first thing she did was turn on the computer to check if the head office had approved the application.

Finally, on the fourth day after the email was sent, the head office responded.

Dorothy quickly opened it, only to see “Application not approved” on her computer screen.

She was stunned for a moment, then hurriedly took out her phone to dial Everett’s number.

After a few rings, he picked up.

“What’s up?”

“Why wasn’t the loan application for the SinoSuccess Enterprises project approved?”

Everett was silent for a few seconds, and then he replied coldly, “Because the board of directors assessed that the SinoSuccess Enterprises project was too risky.”

“But…”

“Dorothy.” Everett interrupted coldly. “It’s working hours now. Anything else?”

Chapter 17

“Alright.”

She couldn’t tell if he was drunk or not. If he was, he still managed to pick her up and carry her to the bedroom. If he wasn’t, his hasty actions were so unlike the usually composed and almost cold Everett.

Dorothy felt like she was the one who had been drinking. Her head began spinning. Time seemed to stretch out, and even the ceiling light seemed to sway with her.

Eventually, she couldn’t take it anymore, and her gaze landed on the tattoo on his collarbone. She bit down hard.

Feeling the pain, Everett finally stopped.

“I’m sorry, I…”

“Mr. Lopez… can this be the last time for today?” Her voice was husky, and her tone was almost pleading.

Everett didn’t respond, but after they finished, he got up to head to the bathroom.

Dorothy thought she had found Everett’s pause button. She had bitten his tattoo in desperation, trying to remind him of his loved one.

And it worked.

He let her off the hook.

While Everett was in the shower, Dorothy quickly got dressed and grabbed her laptop.

As soon as he emerged in a black robe, she immediately asked, “I’m going to do some due diligence on the SinoSuccess Enterprises project. I’ll talk to their head tomorrow. I’ve already rewritten the contract, emphasizing the breach clauses. Can you take a look?”

With her formal tone, she sounded like a secretary who had followed her boss home.

Everett raised an eyebrow as his hand absently rubbed his still-damp hair. “Weren’t you saying you were tired?”

Dorothy caught his meaning and blushed. “IL

“Dinner will be delivered soon.”

“What?”

“Eat while we talk.”

Dorothy was puzzled as she watched his retreating figure.

He had just gone out for a social event, so why was he having dinner delivered?

But it worked out well. She hadn’t eaten dinner yet.

In the dining room, the assistant had brought seafood and other delicacies. Just from the display, Dorothy knew it was out of her price

range

“Go ahead. There’s no garlic.” Everett gestured for her to start eating while he began to peel a crab.

She hadn’t noticed before, but his hands were quite handsome, and all his fingers were elegantly slender.

This guy seemed to have no flaws.

“Mr. Lopez, you don’t eat garlic either?”

Everett’s attention was on the crab in his hand. It took him a few seconds to hum in response.

Dorothy was really hungry, and since he had offered the food, it would be awkward to refuse.

After eating for a while, she realized that all the crab meat Everett had peeled ended up in her bowl.

“Mr. Lopez?”

“Just eat.” Everett clearly didn’t plan on answering her question. His voice was soft and warm. “In situations like this, you can’t rely solely on the contract. If you want to cover the promised investment with actual cash, there are many other solutions. You could negotiate with a third party to make up the difference, or you could apply to the parent company for a loan. This way, the project could potentially restart.”

Dorothy’s eyes lit up. She immediately put down her cutlery to write the application.

But her wrist was caught by Everett. After looking up, she met his narrow, clear eyes. The intensity in his gaze was growing, making it almost too hot to hold his gaze.

“You still have this much energy?”

Dorothy opened her mouth in surprise. “I said that was the last time for today.”

“I didn’t agree

Chapter 16

After seeing her daughter’s tired face, Bella could only heave a long sigh.

“Sorry, it’s all my fault. I’ve dragged you down with me.”

She knew she shouldn’t always feed her daughter with fears of men. After all, she’d get married someday, but she was scared that her daughter would get hurt again out of foolishness.

“What are you talking about, Mom? After your surgery, the doctor said you might be able to walk again. Promise me you’ll make pastas

for me then. I miss it.”

“Alright Bella nodded, then suddenly thought of something. ‘Call your boyfriend over. I want to meet him.”

Dorothy was taken aback and quickly averted her gaze to peel an apple. “He’s too busy with the company”

“Just like your father back then…..”

“Mom” She interrupted softly. “Not everyone is like him.”

At least her intuition told her Everett wasn’t that type of person.

To Bella, it sounded like her daughter was defending her boyfriend. She immediately frowned and didn’t say anything else, but she also didn’t take the apple that Dorothy handed over.

Outside, the sky was gradually darkening.

With her mother taken care of, she had to return to work early the next morning. So, after her mother fell asleep, Dorothy left the hospital.

After stepping outside, she took a deep breath before hailing a taxi and heading to Everett’s place as he had instructed.

Just as she got off, her phone in her bag started ringing.

It was a number she didn’t recognize.

“Are you home?” Everett’s deep and magnetic voice was too distinctive to be mistaken.

“Yeah, I’m here.”

“I have to attend a last-minute event, so I’ll be back later. You go in first.” He paused. “The door code is 0825”

Startled by the sudden mention of the code, she hesitated before agreeing.

Upon entering, while changing her shoes, Dorothy thought that the meaning behind 0825 was probably deeper than she initially thought He didn’t remove the tattoo or change the code, which meant this person still matters to Everett.

So, when he said he needed a marriage partner, it was probably to spite this person in his heart. It was probably that lawyer named Heather that Karen mentioned.

Dorothy wasn’t sure how she felt at the moment. She was most likely being used as a substitute.

She planned to take off her coat and start working on her laptop. However, as she looked up, her gaze was drawn to a large bag of condoms sent by Everett’s assistant in the hallway.

Large was not an exaggeration. There were at least a dozen boxes in various colors.

Dorothy instinctively coughed a few times. Her face was flushed, and she quickly retreated from the area as if avoiding a virus.

On the company’s internal software, Karen immediately messaged Dorothy when she saw her online.

“Who was that male voice on the phone?”

“The hospital’s doctor” Dorothy chose not to tell her about this. It wasn’t something to be proud of. The contract was only for a year, so she should be able to keep it a secret.

After replying, she opened the files for the SinoSuccess Enterprises project and started checking them one by one.

After some time, she heard the sound of the front door unlocking.

Dorothy got up and walked over. Before she could say anything. Everett’s tall and slender figure pushed her against the wall in the living room, and then a kiss with a strong smell of alcohol overwhelmed her.

“Um… Mr. Lopez… Not here, please…”

Chapter 15

All the way there, Jeffrey wouldn’t stop yapping about their memories from childhood to adulthood, but none of it reached Everett’s ears. Once they arrived at the company, he didn’t even bother to say goodbye to Jeffrey and just went straight up in the CEO’s private elevator. “Mr. Lopez, about the infringement lawsuit against N&P Enterprises, do you need to gather more lawyers?” The secretary knocked on the door and just happened to come in with some documents. “I heard they’ve got some big-shot lawyer on their side.”

Everett adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses. He was unfazed and signed his name at the bottom of the document.

“Don’t worry. We’ll let Ms. Heather handle all legal matters when she gets back.”

“Ms. Heather is coming back to the head office?” Upon hearing this, the secretary’s previous worry disappeared like smoke in thin air. “That’s great. We’ve got this lawsuit in the bag then!”

He wasn’t exaggerating.

In the past few years, any major lawsuit that the Lopez Corporation faced was dealt with easily as long as Heather was their defense lawyer.

Just as the secretary was about to leave, feeling relieved, Everett stopped him.

“Grab some fruits and supplements on your way out and send them to room V1 at the City Hospital.”

“Sure thing, Mr. Lopez”

After he left, Everett took out the marriage certificate he had just received from the pocket of his suit jacket. Everett’s fingers lightly brushed over it. After a good while, he got up and neatly placed it in the

safe.

In the hospital, the smell of disinfectant was still everywhere.

Dorothy had been waiting in room V1 for almost two hours before Bella woke up from her deep coma.

Her condition was better this time. At least she had the energy to lift her hand.

“Mom, you finally woke up! The doctor just came by, and I’ve signed all the surgery consent forms. You can have the surgery in a few days.”

When signing the papers, she was so excited that she could barely hold the pen.

In contrast to Dorothy’s joy, Bella just frowned.

“Dorothy, where did the money for the surgery come from?”

“I borrowed it.”

Dorothy obviously wouldn’t tell her mother the truth.

But saying she borrowed it wasn’t exactly a lie, since she was using Everett’s money for the surgery now, but she would pay him back once she saved up enough.

“It’s one million, right? Who would lend you that?” Bella said as she tried to sit up, getting agitated. “Tell me the truth! Did you get this money through some shady means?”

“No” Dorothy, having no other choice, said, “I’m dating a guy. He lent it to me.”

Upon hearing this, Bella was even more upset.

“No way. I’m not doing the surgery. Give him back his money!”

Dorothy furrowed her brow, feeling helpless. “Mom, not having the surgery could put your life at risk.”

“I’d rather die that let you spend a man’s money! Haven’t I always told you that men are no good? Especially the rich ones. They’re not reliable!”

Bella was tricked in the same way back in the day. Her husband was full of sweet promises before they got married, but he cheated on her after only two years of marriage. He even fathered a child out of wedlock.

“So, what do you want me to do?” Dorothy was too exhausted, so she couldn’t control herself. She unwillingly raised her voice slightly. “My dad might as well be dead, and if something happens to you, I’ll be an orphan!”

She took a breath and gently rubbed her mother’s hand. “Mom, I promise you. I’ll definitely pay him back, okay?”

She wanted to strive to settle the debt with Everett by the time they divorced.

Chapter 14

But she didn’t forget about her duty. She thought for a moment and said, “Guess I’ll be on breakfast duty tomorrow, eh?”

Since when did the sugar daddy serve himself?

Everett chuckled lightly. He was wearing a dark-colored robe, looking comfortably lazy. He walked over and pulled out a chair to sit down on at the dining table. “Don’t be so formal, love. After we register today, you’ll officially be my wife. At least in the eyes of the law” Since he was so upfront, Dorothy decided to stop beating around the bush. “So, Mr. Lopez, how long is this contract marriage gonna last? Maybe we should seal the deal in writing. What do you think?”

After all, it was all about business, and she needed to set a time limit for herself.

If Everett said their mamage needed to last a long time, she would need to think it over.

Men had a golden age that lasted for quite a while. When the time came and Everett needed a divorce, he would still be a hot bachelor. But for her, it would be a disaster. Who would want an old, divorced woman?

Everett, who was holding a fork and knife, paused for a moment, seemingly considering the question.

Eventually, he nodded. “Alright, I’ll have my assistant draft a contract. Let’s sign for a year first.”.

“Sounds good.” Dorothy finally relaxed a bit and tasted Everett’s porridge..

Hmm, it was really tasty.

After breakfast, she and Everett went to register their marriage.

After signing and leaving her fingerprints, she was officially Mrs. Lopez. The whole process took less than half an hour.

“Ill have my assistant take you to the hospital to see your mother. After work, you can come straight to my place.” Everett, already in his suit, was back to his aloof CEO demeanor. His tone left no room for argument.

Dorothy nodded and left with the assistant.

Not long after they left, another black Maybach slowly pulled up next to Everett.

The car window in the back seat rolled down, revealing Jeffrey’s devil-may-care handsome face. “Sometimes I really don’t get you, man. You’re taking such a big risk by registering a marriage with her without even confessing your feelings. What’s your game?”

Everett gave him a cold glance, opened the car door, and got in.

His voice was icy as he said, “She doesn’t have any feelings for me yet.”

“So?” Jeffrey’s eyes widened. “You do realize what the consequences will be if your parents find out about this secret marriage, right? Is she worth it?”

“They won’t know if you don’t tell them.”

In Jeffrey’s eyes, if a woman was not to his liking, he would just hit it and quit it. If he was really into her, he might keep her around for a bit longer. He just couldn’t understand why Everett would go to such lengths for a mere assistant.

“You’re just burying your head in the sand.” Jeffrey rolled his eyes in disbelief. “Honestly, I’m quite curious to see how this story ends. What if this little assistant never develops feelings for you? What

will you do?”

Everett ignored him and opened his laptop to work.

He couldn’t put these things off until the night. Tonight was their official wedding night, and he had no intention of playing the generous benefactor forever.

As the car started, Jeffrey suddenly remembered something and nudged Everett’s shoulder. “Oh, by the way, Heather is coming back next week. We should all get together and catch up. Have you seen her on Twitter? She’s absolutely stunning now.”

Jeffrey was excited, but Everett didn’t even look up. “We’ll talk about it next week.”

“Hey! She’s coming back just to help you, man. You’re being quite cold-hearted.”
