Why is the dead sea so dead?
For several years, I used to be fascinated by the word and term; "The dead sea." The question comes to mind. How can a sea be dead? This is something inanimate, non living and obviously an element of crude existence that is supposed to serve a purpose set by nature. At first, I concluded that the name was given because its a sea that causes death and the fables of old, uses it to scare small children in folkloric settings and hence it derives its auspicious name.
But later, my curiosity got the better of me. I really wanted to know what killed the dead sea in a metaphorical sense of the word. I wanted to know how it died. Was it ever alive? Can its death be reversed, by turning it into a lively living body of waters? And most important of all, how can it apply to our daily life's.
The dead sea is located in the heart of Palestine, in the middle east. It borders the West bank, Jordan and Israel. In the Bible scriptures, the dead sea features prominently, as the sea of Arabah and its source is derived from the famous River Jordan. The sea is actually a massive lake and it is as lifeless as the Saharan desert. The only forms of life present in this massive lake are fungus, algae and some bacterial life forms. The dead sea is famously hyper-saline. It's waters makes floating easy, and its minerals rich black mud is used for therapeutic and cosmetic treatments at area resorts. The surrounding desert offers many oases and historic sites.
Haven established these facts, its ironic to note that this dead sea is stubbornly selfish, gluttonous and greedy. A notoriously lifeless sea. Yet, the dead sea and the sea of Galilee derives their water sources from the same River Jordan and it's amazing that whilst the Sea of Galilee support a very rich wide life and fresh waters, the dead sea kills and discourages any form of productive life. The sea of Galilee has over 18 species of indigenous fishes in the Sea of Galilee, and that 10 of those are important commercially. The only life in the dead sea is bacterial in nature, totally useless.
But there is a reason for this. Whilst the sea of Galilee derives its source from the Jordan river, its flows and dump its water into the lower banks of the Jordan and other estuaries, thereby recycling it freshness and allowing its oxygen to be rich and life supporting. From the Tilapia's to the, Binys and Kinneret sardines, the sea of Galilee burst with commercial activities and increasing the economic stance of its fishermen. On the other hand, the dead sea gives nothing, even though it receives the same as the sea of Galilee. The only way it let's go of parts of water body is through evaporation. And this also helps to increase its salinity levels and that is close to 37.6% higher than the normal salt levels in the ocean.
So what does this teaches us in real life scenarios. Two seas or large lakes, receiving their water bodies from the same rivers, ends up reacting to life and nature in entirely different forms. The answer is in the attitudes of the two. While the sea of Galilee receives and gives back as much as it gets, the dead sea receives and gives out nothing. The dead sea swallows everything and let's up nothing.
The same happens to human life. The scriptures clearly states that he that gives receives more, while he that holds tights to what he has, ends up loosing everything. In life, we hear of billionaires like Warren Buffet, Bill & Melinda Gates, The Ford Foundation, The Mc Arthur Foundation etc, giving away billions of dollars to charity and other noble causes and still gets richer. But the other people who claims to be rich and hold tight to their wealth ends up poor.
If you have knowledge and wisdom, information and so on, and you keep it to yourselves, you will end up dying a fool. The vast knowledge shared creates value and makes life more advanced and developed.
In network marketing, team building is about sharing values and opportunities that generates wealth. If you find a great opportunity in a network business, and you refuse to share that opportunity with others, you can't earn or develop at an exponential rate. Whilst others earn massively through duplication and referrals, you will remain stagnant, unproductive, frustrated and highly toxic like the dead sea.
In order words, to be alive is to give, share, distribute and get refreshed. If you accept, retain, store and block all outlets of giving, you start to bloat, become toxic, alkalinic, rotten and useless. Its a natural principle of life and it applies to all situations, where living or non living. The tree that refused to bear fruit is cursed and cut off, while that which bears fruits are pruned, and made to bear more fruits. This day, learn to live life, give values, share knowledge and become wealthy. Don't chose the other side.
