📌 2026 PROPOSED TAX LAW: WHAT EVERY SME OWNER MUST UNDERSTAND (VERY IMPORTANT)

The 2026 tax reforms may have begun without your knowledge, and one mistake we keep seeing among SMEs is this assumption: “My business is exempt from tax, so I’m safe.”

This thinking will cost that your business money. So let’s clarify this properly.

❌Tax will no longer be based on what you “estimate.”
✅ It will be based on what you can prove with records.

NOW HERE'S WHY GUESSWORK IS DANGEROUS FOR SMEs
Many SME owners say:
“I didn’t make profit”
“The money went back into the business”

But without records, tax authorities may:
Assume income from bank inflows

🚨 YOU SHOULD READ THIS IF YOU'RE REGISTERED AS A COMPANY WITH CAC AS IT SIMPLIFIES THE SLIDES BELOW!

For those who may not enjoy reading much (tho we think you should 🌚) is that from the 1st of January, if your business is registered as a company with CAC, you won't be taxed the same way as a person whose business is registered as a business name.

Which also means that if you're registered as a business name, once your profit is up to N800,000 at the end of the year, you'll be charged tax, but if you're registered as a company, your business needs to make N100m before you'll be taxed.

This is the reason you should register that your business as a company, and if you're registered as a business name already, there's a process of upgrade where you now become a registered company.

Now that you have the right information, what's stopping you from registering as a company? 🌚

CAC vs SMEDAN – Stop Scrolling through 🚨 Before You Get It Wrong!
