Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men. PROV22:29

Faith and Competence, a perfect approach to greatness

In today's fast-paced world, it's easy to get caught up in the idea that faith and competence are mutually exclusive, not at all.
The truth is that they complement each other beautifully. Having faith in oneself, one's abilities, and God can provide the needed confidence and motivation to develop the skills required for success. It is all about communication skills, problem-solving, critical thinking, networking, relationship building, emotional intelligence, and resources management.

Effective communication is the foundation of success in any field. It's not just about conveying information; it's about building relationships, resolving conflicts, and inspiring others. Faith can play a significant role in communication by giving us the courage to speak our truth, listen actively, and empathize with others. When we trust that our message is worth sharing, we're more likely to communicate with conviction, confidence, and clarity.
For instance, Daniel inspired his brethren with uncommon faith and motivation for a purposeful, and responsible confrontation in Babylon.

Faith can be a powerful catalyst for problem-solving and critical thinking. When we trust that there's a solution to every problem, we're more likely to approach challenges with a growth mindset. This mindset allows us to think outside the box, explore new possibilities, and learn from our mistakes. By combining faith with critical thinking, we can develop innovative solutions and make informed decisions. For example, an entrepreneur with faith in their idea can pivot and adapt when faced with inevitable obstacles, ultimately finding success.

Building relationships and networking are essential for personal and professional growth. Faith can help us approach these interactions with kindness, empathy, and generosity. When we trust that we're all connected and interdependent, we're more likely to build meaningful relationships and create a supportive community. By combining faith with networking, we can create a strong support system that helps us navigate vicissitude of life

Emotional intelligence is the ability to recognize and manage our emotions, as well as empathize with others. Faith can play a significant role in developing emotional intelligence by teaching us to acknowledge our limitations, practice self-reflection, and seek guidance from God Almighty. When we're aware of our emotions and their impact on others, we can respond thoughtfully rather than react irrationally or impulsively. For instance, a leader with high emotional intelligence can manage their stress and respond to challenging situations with empathy and compassion

Resources management is a critical aspect of personal and professional success. Faith can teach us to view our resources as a trust rather than a personal possession. By combining faith with financial literacy and time management skills, we can develop healthy and balanced life's habits, prioritize our spending , time, and make wise investments. For example, a person with faith can view their wealth as a means to bless others, rather than solely accumulating wealth for personal gain.

In conclusion, faith and competence are not mutually exclusive; they're complementary aspects of a holistic approach to success. By combining faith with skills like communication, problem-solving, networking, emotional intelligence, and financial/ resources management, we can achieve greater success and make a more meaningful impact. As the saying goes, "Spirituality doesn't substitute skills." We need both faith and competence to thrive in life.
I wish you a rewarding week ahead

I laughed when my Rev Dr uma ukpai told me I would get married within Four months

If you don't believe in prophecy, this might sound like a lot.
But this is my real life,And let me say this clearly
this is just one of the many miracles I experienced through him.

There are some men God sends to this earth, not just to preach… they change real lives.
One of them was Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai.
And this story? It is very personal.

One day, Daddy looked at me and said:

"Esther, you will get married this year."
I laughed.

Not small laugh o… I laughed WELL.

"Daddy, this is July 2025 Six months don go already. I am single… not even talking stage. Like stupidly single.

He looked at me, calm and sure.

"I am talking to you and you are laughing? For that… you will be a married woman in the next four months.

Then he said something I didn't understand at that time:
The man will be your compensation."

But he didn't stop there.

He looked at me again and said:
"I know your heart is broken."

That one touched me… because it was true.
Then he said something I will never forget:

"When you get home, the power of God will put you in a 7-hour deep sleep. And while you are asleep, He will give you a new heart. He will not mend your heart… He will give you a brand new one. You will forgive everyone that hurt you… and you will love again.

I just looked at him and smiled.

Because honestly… it sounded deep, but I didn't even process it fully.

I am not even a sleepy person like that.
But when I got home that day… I passed out.
Seven good hours. Deep sleep.
Looking back now, I understand.
Something shifted. Something healed. Something in me became new.

Exactly one month later, I came back.

"Daddy… one guy is disturbing me ooo.

He didn't stress it. "Let me see his picture."

I showed him. Immediately he said
"THIS IS YOUR COMPENSATION. Bring him to me immediately.

No long talk. No analysis. Just certainty.

By September, we went to see him.

And that day… I will never forget it.
Before he even prayed, before any blessing…

Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai looked straight at him, voice loud and serious:

"The day you beat my daughter or treat her badly… you will pay dearly."
Everywhere went quiet.

Then he added: "She is a gift to you.

In that moment, I didn't just feel loved… I felt protected.

He blessed us and simply said: "Fix a date."
No stress. No delay.

About two weeks later, daddy died

November 13. I became a wife to one of Gods best sons,Just like he said, my husband is truely my compensation

And that was when everything made sense in a deeper way.

Not just the marriage… but the healing.

Because how do you enter love again… if your heart was still broken?

This was not ordinary.

This was a man that saw ahead of time. A man that didn't just preach , things actually happened.

Out of all the people God used him to bless in this world…
I was one of them.

Not from afar. Not as part of the crowd. Personally.

You might think this story is about marriage. It's not.

It's about a father who could see your pain and your future at the same time. A man who spoke and it came to pass. Someone who didn't just bless you, but healed you first. Someone who didn't just connect you, but defended your worth.

Because men like Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai don't just die.

Their words stay,Their impact stays, Their covering… stays.

So yes, I will say it boldly:
This is one of the many miracles I experienced through him…
and I am one of Daddy's miracles.

And this is a testimony I will carry for the rest of my life.

If you understand spiritual fathers, you will understand this.
If you don't… just know this:
God still heals.
God still speaks.
And God still settles people.

Keep singing with the angels our dear father Rev Uma ukpai.

Young unmarried people should learn something from the Strait of Hormuz. Because it is closed, that narrow strip of land and water has become the most sought-after and valuable real estate on Earth. By simply being shut, it has increased the value of the oil that flows from it. The same is true for you. You can immediately and automatically increase your value by keeping your body closed and maintaining your purity and virginity. It will make you more sought after for marriage than those who open themselves before their nuptials. Plus, whatever comes out of you will become more valuable. Scarcity improves your quality. Don't worry that your mates laugh at your virginity. In less than five minutes, you can be like them. But they can never be like you in five million light-years!

DIVINE IDENTITY
Divine identity refers to the understanding and acknowledgment of one's relationship with God, as defined by scripture. It's about recognizing you're created in God's image, transformed through faith in Jesus Christ, and sanctified by the Holy Spirit. This identity is rooted in God's grace and calling, not personal achievements or societal status.

In essence, divine identity is about embracing your true self as seen by God, a beloved child, chosen, treasured, and precious. It's not just about individual identity but also communal, as believers are part of God's family, a royal priesthood, and a holy nation.

The Bible highlights this identity through various passages, such as:
You are God's handwork created in Christ Jesus to do good works Eph2:10

You are God's children, adopted into His family, with all rights and standing of Jesus Rom 8:16, Gal 4:5-7

You are a new creation, the old has gone, the new has come 2 Corin 5:17

WHEN BELIEVERS BECOME STRANGERS

Unfortunately, what we are confronting in many homes today is not the challenge of an unbelieving partner, but the deeper tragedy of terrible partners who claim to believe. We have shifted the focus from genuine character to mere confession. A man says “I am born again,” a woman says “I love Jesus,” yet their daily conduct denies everything Christ represents.

An unbelieving partner is clearly defined—someone who does not follow Christ, perhaps rooted in another faith or simply indifferent. Scripture already gives wisdom on this: “For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife…” (1 Corinthians 7:14). The emphasis is not force, but influence. You don’t coerce transformation; you embody it. Your life becomes the message. In such unions, there is clarity—light knows it must shine.

But what do we do when two people claim to be light, yet live in darkness?

This is where the real crisis lies.

We now have “Christian marriages” filled with manipulation, pride, silent competition, emotional abuse, and deep hypocrisy. Two people who speak in tongues but cannot speak truth to each other. Two people who quote scriptures publicly but weaponize silence, disrespect, and control privately. As the Bible warns, “They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him” (Titus 1:16).

The issue is no longer belief—it is transformation.

Many enter marriage thinking shared religion equals shared values. It does not. A wedding conducted in church does not guarantee a Christ-centered home. What sustains a marriage is not what you say at the altar, but who you are when no one is watching.

A terrible partner who claims Christ can do more damage than an honest unbeliever. At least with the unbeliever, expectations are clear. But hypocrisy breeds confusion, pain, and disillusionment. It is why many are silently breaking inside marriages they once prayed for.

Jesus said, “By their fruits you shall know them” (Matthew 7:16). Not by their titles. Not by their attendance. Not by their vocabulary. Fruits—character, consistency, accountability.

The hard truth is this: many are not suffering because they married outside the faith, but because they married people who have never truly died to self. Christianity without transformation is religion, and religion without integrity is dangerous.

If marriages must work, we must go beyond claiming Christ to becoming like Him. Less performance, more process. Less image, more honesty. Because two hypocrites cannot build a healthy home—only two people committed to growth, truth, and daily surrender can.

THE MEN BEHIND THE KING JAMES BIBLE: THEIR IDENTITIES, LIFESTYLES, AND THE CONTROVERSIAL LIFE OF KING JAMES I

In 1604, during the reign of King James I of England, a project began that would produce one of the most influential books in human history: the King James Version of the Bible. The work lasted from 1604 to 1611 and involved a group of highly educated scholars who were mostly priests, bishops, professors, and linguists.

Although 54 men were originally nominated for the work, historical records show that about 47 scholars actually participated in the translation. These translators were divided into six companies, working in three cities: Westminster, Oxford, and Cambridge.

These men were not ordinary translators. Many were powerful figures in the Church of England, university professors, and political theologians whose personal beliefs, church affiliations, and lifestyles shaped the final text of the Bible that millions read today.

THE SIX COMPANIES OF TRANSLATORS

FIRST WESTMINSTER COMPANY
(GENESIS – 2 KINGS)

01. Lancelot Andrewes – A bishop known for his mastery of Greek and Hebrew.
02. William Bedwell – An Oriental scholar and expert in Arabic studies.

11. Edward Lively – Professor of Hebrew at Cambridge.
12. Roger Andrewes – Brother of Lancelot Andrewes and a Cambridge scholar.
13. Andrew Bing – A church leader and academic.
14. Laurence Chaderton – One of the first fellows of Emmanuel College.
15. Francis Dillingham – A theologian and Hebrew scholar.
16. William Eyre – A scholar of classical languages.
17. Thomas Harrison – A respected church minister.
18. John Richardson – Master of Trinity Hall, Cambridge.
19. Robert Spaulding – A churchman known for linguistic studies.

FIRST OXFORD COMPANY

25. Richard Kilby – A Hebrew scholar and rector.
26. John Reynolds – A Puritan scholar who actually proposed the translation project.
27. Miles Smith – One of the final editors of the King James Bible.
28. William Thorne – A respected academic.

SECOND CAMBRIDGE COMPANY
(THE APOCRYPHA)

29. John Duport – Head of the Apocrypha translation group.
30. John Bois – A linguistic genius who reportedly read the Bible at age five.
31. William Branthwaite – A Hebrew scholar and college master.
32. Andrew Downes – Regius Professor of Greek at Cambridge.
33. Jeremiah Radcliffe – A classical scholar.
34. Robert Ward – A Cambridge academic.
35. Samuel Ward – A Puritan theologian who later attended the Synod of Dort.

SECOND OXFORD COMPANY
(GOSPELS, ACTS, REVELATION)

36. Thomas Ravis – Leader of the New Testament Oxford translators.
37. George Abbot – Later became Archbishop of Canterbury.
38. John Aglionby – A royal chaplain and scholar.
39. Richard Edes – A theologian associated with Oxford.
40. John Harmar – A professor of Greek.
41. Leonard Hutten – A respected Oxford clergyman.
42. James Montagu – A bishop and royal advisor.
43. John Peryn – A classical scholar.
44. Ralph Ravens – A university academic.
45. Henry Savile – One of the greatest classical scholars in England.
46. Giles Tomson – Bishop of Gloucester.

SECOND WESTMINSTER COMPANY
(THE EPISTLES)

47. William Barlow – Head of the Westminster New Testament translators.

These men were largely Anglican clergy, bishops, and academics tied to English political and religious institutions. Their work was supervised by powerful church authorities such as Richard Bancroft, who ensured the translation supported the doctrines and hierarchy of the Church of England.

THE CONTROVERSIAL PERSONAL LIFE OF KING JAMES I

Behind the translation project stood the king himself: King James I of England, who sponsored the translation primarily to unify religious factions within England.

However, James’ personal life has long been surrounded by controversy.

Many historians believe that James had intimate emotional relationships with several male courtiers, particularly:
• Robert Carr
• George Villiers

James wrote affectionate letters to Villiers, calling him his “sweet child and wife.” These letters have led many historians to speculate that their relationship went beyond friendship.

While some scholars argue these expressions reflected the emotional language of the time, others believe they reveal a romantic or homosexual relationship between the king and his favorites.

Despite these controversies, James was married to Anne of Denmark and had children who inherited the throne.

THE COMPLEX REALITY

The King James Bible did not descend from heaven untouched by human influence. It was the product of:
• Politics
• Church authority
• Human scholars
• The personal beliefs and lifestyles of its translators

Yet, despite all the human flaws involved in its creation, the translation became one of the most powerful literary and religious works ever produced.

For over four centuries, it has shaped theology, literature, culture, and faith across the world.

It remains a reminder that sacred texts often pass through very human hands before reaching the world.

Choosing the right career path, why experience matters.

Some years ago I helped a fresh graduate and a mentee secure a job at a company where he will be exposed to career opportunities, further training, mentorship, connections. After some years, he was better positioned, exposed and equipped to start the same line of business. He is doing great and better today.

When selecting an employer, it is easy to focus on immediate benefits like salary, job security, or work-life balance. However, a critical factor often overlooked is the experience and skills you will gain. Taking up a job solely for the pay can lead to stagnation, limiting your future growth and opportunities.

A company that offers valuable experience is investing in your future. It equips you with the skills, knowledge, and network needed to excel in your field or start your own business. This exposure can be invaluable, providing a solid foundation for long-term success.

Consider the long-term implications of your employment choice. Will the role enhance your skill set, expand your professional network, or provide opportunities for advancement? Or will it confine you to a narrow scope, limiting your future prospects?

Working for a company that prioritizes your growth can be a game-changer. You will learn from experienced professionals, tackle challenging projects, and develop a deeper understanding of your industry. This experience can be a springboard to new opportunities, whether that is a promotion, a new role, or starting your own venture.

When evaluating job opportunities, ask yourself, what can I learn here? How will this role prepare me for my next step? Will I have access to mentors, training, and growth opportunities? Prioritizing experience over immediate gains can pay dividends in the long run, setting you up for success and opening doors to new possibilities.

Remember, the picture of the old staff that you met at the new job is likely to be the exact picture of your future in the same office. Think about it.

What do you think are the most important factors to consider when choosing an employer for long-term growth and career development?

Bearing Fruit from Brokenness

Job 14:7-9 "For there is hope for a tree, if it is cut down, that it will sprout again, and that its shoots will not cease. Though its root grows old in the earth, and its stump dies in the ground, yet through the scent of water it will bud and put forth branches like a young plant."

A broken tree can still bear fruits, our struggles don't define our potential. Brokenness is not the end, it is a season. Like a tree redirecting energy to heal and grow, we can channel challenges into opportunities.

We should learn to grow from scars, as resilience builds strength.
Scars show we have endured and can thrive.

Fruit comes from within, brokenness can lead to new growth and unexpected blessings.

There is purpose in pain, the most fruitful seasons follow hardship.

You’re not defined by your breaks but by how you grow afterward.

Be strong and courageous as you go out this week.

Wishing you a spiritually rewarding Sunday

The parable of the persistent widow in Luke 18:1-8 teaches us about the power of persistence in prayer and seeking help. The widow's relentless pursuit of justice from the unjust judge shows us that persistence can lead to breakthroughs.

*Persistence and Faith*

- *Keep Asking, Keep Seeking*: Jesus encourages us to be like the persistent widow, keeping faith that our requests will be heard.
- *God's Timing*: Persistence isn't just about getting what we want but trusting in God's timing and plan.

Applying Persistence in Life
Persistence helps us push through challenges and obstacles. Persistence builds character and strengthens faith.

The lesson from Luke 18 is clear, persistence is key. Keep pushing forward, and don't give up.
You surely get there.

In the face of adversity, when the path ahead seems shrouded in uncertainty, remember that patience and wisdom are your companions. They are the anchors that hold you steady, the guiding lights that illuminate your journey.

Do not surrender to doubt. It is natural to feel overwhelmed, to question your abilities, or to wonder if you will ever reach your destination. But doubt is a transient visitor. it arrives uninvited, but it does not have to stay.

Rise again and again. Every setback is an opportunity to learn, to grow, and to come back stronger. Each time you rise, you build resilience, you gain wisdom, and you move closer to your goals.

You have the strength within you to overcome any obstacle. Trust in yourself, trust in your journey, and keep moving forward. Patience and wisdom will guide you through the toughest times. You are not alone.

What do you think is the most challenging part of staying patient and wise when faced with adversity?
May your waiting time not become a wasted time
