NIGERIA, O! NIGERIA
"""""""""""""""""
A man once told me that their is a something about our anthem he wasn't comfortable with, and I thought "o! Here comes the old folks again", now I'm beginning to see what he meant...
Let's phrase and paraphrase our anthem...
Arise o compatriots (phrase)
Arise countrymen/women
..Nigeria call, obey
..To serve our father's land
To serve (in present day context, we serve, like do without dividend, perhaps serving the elites and getting whipped by the hit of , epileptic , bad infrastructures, bad or no social amenities, inflation, living in sloms and being battered by hunger etc)
..With love and strength and faith. ..
(That's what keeps us to together, but how about our (amunisin) that makes us serve in this case with the love of the country at heart, (but our slave masters (politicians) with the love of their pockets at heart), they embezzle, loot, and divert public fund that is meant to make a better living for those serving with all their strength. we serve with all our strength ( believing we are serving to make Nigeria a better place)and yet eat like grasshoppers - work like Elephants. ..
..The labour of our heroes past shall never be in vain
(Lemme ask this question- how about our own labour? we had heroes in the past, whose labour made positive impacts, now we have vile Leaders, who indeed have made the labour of our past heroes to be nulled... yet we keep singing the labour of our heroes past shall never be In vain- why not work so that our own labour will be waged and we have dividend for our labour? How about we saying no to cowardice and vile political office holders and make the labour of our past heroes stand indeed? How about... how about?...
..To serve with heart and might
That we must
..One nation bound in freedom
...really? Are we really bound in freedom, is it political freedom, social freedom, or just freedom for freedom sake from our colonial masters? How about the mental freedom? How about we believing that the amount we have at hand or at bank or our assets, both fixed and current are not what makes us free? How about knowing that keeping all these fund is not an excuse into liberation and freedom? or are we really enjoying political freedom? The only freedom I think we enjoy so far is the freedom of speech which is like a basket that holds no water when practiced... loads of examples- the case of subsidy removal- the Chibok girls (which i believe are women now)- corruption of the highest order (and so far no one has been brought to book)- Subsidy scandals- CBN scam, and now the NNPC/PPPRA issue- generation of
