Kaga exist as one among the 27 Local Government Areas of Borno, State Nigeria sharing boundaries with Magumari, Kondunga and Damboa Local government areas. It is categorized under the central senatorial district of the state alongside other local governments including Ngala and Bama.
The legislative council of Kaga LGA make laws that govern the area as well as preserve the local customs, history and traditions of the communities under its jurisdiction. Kaga LGA has 15 councilors that represent the existing 15 wards in the area.
