In the verge of putting a finishing touch to the final passage of NATFORCE Bill that just recently scale through its Second reading at the floor of the upper chamber of the NASS 19th Feb.2020...The vice president Professor Yemi Osinbajo, today March 2, 2020 met and had meeting with the members of the Presidential Committee on small Arms and Light Weapons in Abuja. Although as at the press time when filling this report, the agenda of the meeting still remains unknown, notwithstanding, there were indications that the Committee might be discussing with the VP on the report recently submitted on its findings, and also fine tuning its structure to meet up with ECOWAS standard in order to fully addressed all National Security issues and other related matters. Among those present at the meeting were the National Security Adviser (NSA), Major General Babagana Monguno rtd, the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf, Aregbesola, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama. Also in attendance were the Director General, Department of State Service (DSS), Yusuf Bitchi, Comptroller General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ali, DG National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Rufai, Chief of Defence Intelligence (CDI), AVM Mohammed Saliu Usman. Knowing fully well that, The Committee was set up to fast track the process in the fight against illicit proliferation of arms not only in Nigeria but also with ECOWAS member States and development partners.
