NSCDC DEATHS: FG TO SUPPORT FAMILIES WITH N250M..CAUTION CITIZENS NOT TO DEMONISE THE GOVERNOR ON THE TRAGEDY

The federal government is to give N250 million to support the families of the victims of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Niger State command that led to the death of 37 people.

Vice President Kasim Shettima stated this at the Government House in Minna when he paid a condolence visit to the government and people of the state over the incident.

Kasim Shettima,who described the incident as uunfortunate,said the federal government shares the pains of the bereaved families and reiterated that the federal government under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains resolute in its obligations to protect every citizen without distinction or exception.

"The death of 37 young men in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps is a blood on our national conscience.

"A citizen deprived of liberty remains entitled to the protection of the state. No allegation, however great, diminishes that entitlement.

"No uniform compels immunity from aaccountability. We owe justice to every soul lost, answers to every bereaved family, and due process to every person under investigation.

While commiserating with the families of the deceased, Vice President Shettina commended the efforts of the farmer governor in his pursuit of justice for the victims.

"We should avoid weaponising the tragedy that had befallen our people to demonise the Governor. We need to be fair to each other in this hour of bereavement.

The Eexecutive governor of Niger State, farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago,in his response appreciated the Vice president for the visit,which he said speaks volumes of the compassion and solidarity that binds the nation together in moments of grief.

He said the call for justice made by the State government was not an act of vengeance, but a moral obligation to ensure that citizens don't lose their lives in the hands of those sworn to protect them.

While assuring the state government support to the federal government's efforts in regulating mining and protecting national assets, he noted the need for the federal government to invest in safe, legal, and dignified opportunities for the young people.

Farmer Umaru Bago also reiterated that the State government is cooperating fully with the investigative team set by the federal government,as the people of Niger State deserve answers, and the families of the deceased deserve justice.

Earlier in his remarks, the Principal Private Secretary to the farmer governor, Mr Emmanuel Umar,appreciated the Vice President for the visit and said his presence sends a powerful message of solidarity to the deceased families and all the people of Niger State.

He added that, the federal government's presence through the Vice President has rekindled the hope of the families of the deceased knowing fully well that the federal government is concerned about their wellbeing.

GOV BAGO MOURNS HIS IN-LAW ALHAJI BABA CHEGUNGI

Niger State Governor,farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago mourns the passing of Alhaji Umar Baba Abubakar Ndejin Bosso, popularly known as Baba Chegungi.

In a message, the Farmer Governor extends his deepest condolences to the immediate and extended families of the deceased.

He notes that the loss of Alhaji Baba Chegungi is a colossal loss to the people of the Gbako local government in particular and Niger State as a whole.

The Farmer Governor describes the deceased as a great philanthropist who has provided humanitarian support to numerous people.

He recounts how Alhaji Baba Chegungi had made grassroots impact through the sponsorship of several Islamic programmes and community development projects among others.

The Farmers Governor acknowledges that the generosity of the deceased earned him several recognitions from diverse communities.

"The deceased was a community leader with great influence. He lived a life of impact, worthy of emulation.

"I believe that Allah will reward his good deeds, guide and protect the family he left behind and grant his soul Aljanna Firdausi," he said.

He also enjoins the family of the deceased to accept the demise of Alhaji Baba Chegungi as an act of Allah and continue to cherish the good memories they shared and uphold his legacies.

The late Alhaji Umaru Baba Abubakar Chegungi was an in-law to the Farmer Governor.

He was also an All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant who contested for the party's tickets for the Bida/Gbako/Katcha federal constituency seat in the last primary elections.

MINISTER OF LIVESTOCK DEVELOPMENT APPLAUDS AGRICULTURAL DRIVE OF GOVERNOR UMARU BAGO

The Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Muktar Maiha, has commended Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago for his tremendous strides in the agricultural sector, especially in livestock development.

The minister stated this when he led a delegation from the ministry on a courtesy visit to the farmer governor at the Government House in Minna.

Idi Muktar said the farmer governor's strides have put Niger State on the global map and acknowledged the state government for providing the enabling environment for farmers to thrive, especially in the livestock sector.

He reiterated the need to transform the modernized local livestock sector into a profitable, sustainable, globally competitive sector for national food security, job and wealth creation, rural development, and the promotion of peace and social harmony.

He highlighted three top priorities in the ministry, including feed and fodder, where the ministry is working in tandem with the state government to encourage resettlement into large-scale development centres and lands that will be freely given by states where they can choose the value chain to develop.

He said the second is the need to address breed improvement, adding that the Ministry plans to work with all stakeholders to bring in materials that can be used to improve dairy production from about two litres, to 40 litres because the government is presently spending $1.5 billion on the importation of dairy and dairy products.

The minister also advocated the need for the transportation of processed livestock instead of live cattle that have no security of supply.

He also urged state governments to get into Public Private Partnership (PPP) agreements to establish abattoirs, noting that the livestocktock sector has the greatest capacity for job creation.

He equally harped on the need to take advantage of the Sokoto-Badagry highway and find suitable locations along the corridor to jointly develop large-scale development centres for visibility, easy access, and easy evacuation of livestock products.

The executive governor of Niger State, farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, in his response re-echoed the need for the federal government to reactivate the Lagos-Kano-Jibia rail gauge to fastrack the movement of cattle to the Southern region.

Farmer Umaru Bago, who stressed the challenges of hauling livestock from the north to the south, said the development will also reduce a lot of stress on roads, avoid wastage, and address the farmer/herder crisis.

He appreciated the minister and his team for the visit, as well as applauded him for his leadership style and his innovative idea in transforming the ministry.

The farmer governor also used the medium to commend the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) for the wonderful job they are doing in the state.

He said the project was instrumental in brokering a deal between Niger Foods and Abis Abbartoir in Abuja, where the state is to supply 200 cattle daily with 20,000 estimated direct and indirect jobs.

He also stressed the need to increase production in pastural and animal feed, saying the state government will work together with the ministry in that regard.

The farmer governor also commended President Bola Tinubu for his leadership role in mainstreaming livestock in Nigeria.

The minister and his team had earlier inspected Zaima Farms, where he expressed satisfaction with the quality of the livestock farm and commended the farmer governor for his tremendous support for livestock development.

The farm is one of the beneficiaries othe L-PRES intervention with the establishment of a poultry production unit, which has the capacity to prepare 10,000 chickens per day.

NIGERIA AT 66; GOV. BAGO URGES RESIDENTS OF NIGER STATE TO SUSTAIN UNITY, RESILIENCE, AND PATRIOTISM.

Niger State Governor, farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, congratulates Nigerians, especially residents of Niger State, on the nation's 66th independence anniversary.

The Farmer Governor acknowledges that Nigeria has made significant progress in its journey of nationhood from 1960.

He says the people have truly demonstrated tolerance, resilience, strength, and unity by sticking together as one entity despite cultural diversity.

The Farmer Governor notes that Nigeria is a blessed nation with abundant human, natural, and capital resources.

He applauds the founding fathers of the nation and other leaders who have made significant contributions to keep the country united.

The Farmer Governor says Niger State, as a federating unit, has experienced development by successive administrations, adding that the present administration is working assiduously to ensure peace and tranquility.

"As we celebrate the 66th year of nationhood, I urge all residents of Niger State to reflect deeply on our success stories rather than discouraging ones.

"We should be thankful to God for the unity in diversity despite the challenges we are facing.

"We have been bedeviled by insecurity in parts of the state; however, as a people, let us be positive and strengthen our commitment, patriotism, and sacrifices so that we can collectively surmount the challenges.

He expresses hope for a better, greater, and prosperous Niger State in particular and Nigeria in general.

The Farmer Governor reaffirms his determination to strengthen institutions and bring reforms that would engender peace, rapid growth, and development in line with his New Niger agenda.

He notes that the Independence Day Celebration should serve as an opportunity for self reflection for Nigerlites, particularly as it relates to restoring societal norms and behaviors.

Governor Bago further urges the people of the state to sustain their prayers for the nation, Niger State, and for leaders at all levels to rightly and effectively lead the people and the society to greatness.

GENERAL OFFICER COMMANDING (GOC) ONE DIV. NIGERIAN ARMY PAYS CONDOLENCE VISIT TO FARMER UMARU BAGO

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) One division, Nigerian Army, Kaduna, Maj. Gen. Abubakar Sadiq Mohammed Wase has paid a condolence visit to governor Umaru Bago to commiserate with him over the loss of 37 artisanal miners in the State.

Maj. Gen. Wase on behalf of the One division and the Nigerian Army symphatized with the governor and people of Niger State over the unfortunate incident and wished nothing of such nature repeats itself.

He equally used the avenue to inform the farmer governor that all the Army formations in Niger State will from September 30th be under Division 9 following the approval for reorganisation of the Nigerian Army by President Bola Tinubu where Divisions have increased from eight to twelve.

He appreciated the farmer governor for all the support extended to the One division, Nigerian Army and reassured him that his doors will always remain open for the farmer governor.

In his response, farmer Umaru Bago appreciated the GOC One division for the visit and his empathy adding that such kind of visit gives the State government the courage to continue to go to the path of unravelling whatever happened.

He used the platform to thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his magnanimity in creating more divisions in the Nigerian Army.

Farmer Umaru Bago commended the GOC saying, under his leadership, the State has witnessed significant development in terms of security and commended his officers and men in the State for their efforts in combating insecurity issues in Niger State.

37 DEATHS: F.G. INDEPENDENT COMMITTEE VISITS GOV BAGO, ASSURES THAT OUTCOME WILL BRING SUCCOUR.

Chairman of the 10-man independent committee to investigate deaths of 37 persons in NSCDC custody in Minna, set up by the federal government, Mr. Jonathan Kure has assured that the outcome of the investigation will bring succour.

Mr. Kure, who is also a retired Deputy Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), stated this when he led other members of the committee on a visit to the Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago at the government house in Minna.

He said the committee was in Minna to carry out the task given to them by the president.

The chairman of the committee disclosed that the medical team of the committee has already commenced work immediately after the inauguration of the Committee so as not to miss some elements required for the investigation.

"I want to assure you that we will display the independent status that has been bestowed on us by making sure that justice is done.

"We will do our best to unravel what went wrong. And we will apportion blame where blame needs to go.

"Anybody who has been brought into this that has nothing to do with it,where we see it, we will also be fair to such a person," he said.

He used the opportunity to condole with the government and people of the state over the incident, saying it is a concern, not only for the state but also the entire country.

In his response, Farmer Governor Umaru Bago thanked the committee for the visit and promised that the state government will support and cooperate where necessary to ensure the success of the committee.

He expressed confidence that the committee will unravel the circumstances that led to the deaths of the 37 people.

"The world is watching, and the committee consists of people of integrity across relevant sectors; I believe they will do justice," he said.

TARABA STATE GOVERNOR AGBU KEFAS PAYS CONDOLENCE VISIT TO FARMER GOVERNOR UMARU BAGO

The Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas has commiserated and symphatized with the executive governor of Niger State, farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago and the residents of Niger State over the loss of 37 artisanal miners in the State.

Mr. Kefas who led a State government delegation to the Government House Minna said, the people of Taraba symphatize with the families of those who died in the incident and share in their grief.

He used the avenue to commend President Tinubu for setting up a Committee to investigate the matter and stressed that the families of those involved deserve a clear account of what happened and its findings must lead to justice and measures that will protect lives.

The Taraba State governor also expressed optimism that the Chairman of the Committee will do a good work considering his antecedents as a security personnel and believes that the committee will give the right report that will stand the test of time.

Farmer Umaru Bago in his response appreciated the Taraba State governor and his people for the kind words of comfort when the State is being tested.

Farmer Bago said, the visit has clearly shown leadership, magnanimity and trust from his Taraba State counterpart.

He expressed hope that with the calibre and respect of the people drafted in the independent committee, they will do a great job while adding that the State Government's judicial commission on inquiry is also doing a thorough job and remains certain that it will complement the report of the federal government's committee.

GOV. BAGO APPROVES THE IMPLEMENTATION OF CATA AND CONTTA FOR STAFF OF BOTH IBBU LAPAI AND AKUM.

The Executive Governor of Niger State has approved the implementation of the Consolidated Academic Tools Allawance (CATA) and the Consolidated Non-Teaching Tools Allawance (CONTTA) for the state owned Universities, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU) Lapai and the Abdulkadir Kure University Minna (AKUM).

Farmers Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government Abubakar Usman said the implementation takes effect from October 2026.

CATA is a tax-free financial grant to support academic staff in procuring essential tools and materials for teaching and research.

CONTTA is to enhance worker's welfare, adjust hazard pay, and ensure industrial harmony in tertiary institutions.

The approval given by the Farmers Governor has further demonstrated his unwavering commitment to the development of education in the state.
