TOPIC: THE CULTURE OF HONOUR- PART 5
TEXT: Malachi 1: 6 "A son honours his father, and a servant his master. If I am a Father, where is My honour?"
Another way to honour God is by giving to Him.
Our honour for God is not just in our words or worship, it shows clearly in how we handle our resources.
Your money reveals your heart. Your giving reflects your honour.
Proverbs 3:9 (KJV)"Honour the Lord with your substance, and with the firstfruits of all your increase."
You cannot say you honour God and close your hand when it’s time to give.
Because where there is honour, there is generosity.
Honour always moves people to give.
Honour doesn’t come empty-handed.
Honour recognises that God is worthy of the first and the best.
We don’t give to God because He is in need, we give because He is worthy.
In Genesis 4:3, we could see how God responds to our offerings.
Genesis 4:3-4 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord. And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering:
Cain brought an offering that lacked honour.
It wasn’t the first. It wasn’t the best. It wasn’t the fattest. Cain divided his increase and gave God what was left, not what was first.
Scripture says Abel brought of the firstborn and the fat portions, that’s priority and quality.
Portion reveals honour. God rejects what is not due to Him. He recognises honour.
God is not a beggar; He doesn't want leftovers.
Any giving to Him must come with a sense of honour. Your giving must reflect what God deserves. He is interested in the portion you give.
When you withhold from God, it’s not scarcity, it’s often dishonour and rebellion. It is sponsored by "my hard earned money mentality." When people see themselves as self-made, and it is destructive.
When you honour the Lord with your substance, you’re declaring, "Everything I have came from You, and You still deserve the best portion."
If God truly sits on the throne of your heart, He must also sit at the centre of your finances.
Honour Him with your first and your best, not your last.
Let your giving echo this statement: Lord, You are worth it all."
I'm sure this helped!
PRAYER: DEAR FATHER, THANK YOU FOR BEING MY SOURCE.
FORGIVE ME FOR EVERY TIME I GAVE YOU MY LEFTOVER. AS I LEARN TO HONOUR YOU WITH MY SUBSTANCE, I WILL NOT JUST GIVE WHAT IS CONVENIENT, BUT WHAT REFLECTS WHO YOU ARE.
LET MY GIVING RISE AS WORSHIP AND RELEASE THE HONOUR YOU HAVE PREPARED FOR THOSE WHO HONOUR YOU.
AMEN!
