A clergy who has keenly followed the trajectory of Imo politics and has evaluated how worsened our political fate has become because of the entrant and near dominance of 419ners in our polity asked me a mind bugging question and I want to share with you this encounter for documentation sake and in retrospect ask you if there is still that possibly nerve for self redemption by us the masses in this critical responsibility of electing who leads us.

He asked and it came across quite punchy; "JJ do you think the masses would be able to shun the impulse of taking money in exchange for their vote?"

"First, Father; we will always be seen as a reflection of the type of leadership we allow over us. So whether we vote by voting or vote by not voting; all of us are generalised as the people and the responsibility lies within us to change our political fate through the power domiciled in our vote.

It is important that people understand that this money that is given to them is not coated with any form of curse; it is just bribe to do the wrong thing. If we want a better life as a people we should be able to vote the best candidate no matter how much any one gives us to do the wrong thing because it will be our collective loss as a people if we don't stand against this criminal pattern as we deliver our elective responsibility.

Show of capacity should be the proof of competence, sincerity with an objective work plan not the show of flamboyance life style with the wasteful spending that complements it.

In government, individuals do not work for the people with their personal money so capacity for leadership accessment should not be a show of funds but proof of competence and objective work plan for service delivery".

Talk to at least 50 persons today; appeal to them to talk to another 50 persons that we need to show sincerity in the type of leadership we desire through our vote.
