👉Trouser cuffs should "break" on the top of your shoes, that means they rest very slightly on the leather itself. You shouldn't have a gap between your pants(trouser) and your shoes

👉 Own more shoes, how many pairs do you own? Get some more, vary the styles. Shoes are the most underrated tools in a guy's style arsenal, but very essential tool.

Just like cooking or writing and shooting free throws, dressing well is a skill that can actually be learned.
With all skills, you get better the more you practice.
You need to get dressed everyday, this means you have an opportunity to practice and nurture the skill of dressing well every single day.
One needs to realize that dressing well is a skill that can be developed through practice, this is the first step to change your fashion style.

2. DEVELOP YOUR “EYE” BY IDENTIFYING STYLE YOU LIKE
Most times some of my clients come up with
“I just don’t have an eye for putting together outfits or knowing what looks good”

Here’s what I tell them:

“Ok. Is there anyone who’s style you think looks good? Something you think ‘I’d like to dress like that’, even if you don’t think you could pull it off. Maybe it’s a celebrity, a musician, an athlete? Some of my clients have even mentioned celebrities like Ebuka or Enyinna etc. before.”

This is what you can do, take 5 minutes. List out 3 or more guys who style you think looks great and that is in the direction you’d like to go. Even if you don’t think you can pull it off, list it. It could be someone you know, or even a celebrity.

3. SOLVE 90% OF YOUR STYLE PROBLEMS BY GETTING THE RIGHT FIT.
Fit is the most important thing when it comes to great style. It’s so important, in fact, that I tell every one of my clients “wearing clothes that fit properly will solve 90% of your style problems.”

When clothes don’t fit properly, they throw off your body proportions. Because of the excess fabric, clothes that are too big make you not only look sloppy, but fatter and shorter than you are.
The right fit is how someone like Mosky lalasky, Ugochukwu Titus, or Mazi Onwuka Jnr (or John Ikechukwu Lawrence) you can look effortlessly stylish rocking a quality casual native attire top and a well fitted trouser, and how someone can look terrible in a “nice pair of suit” that probably cost 20x more.

To help yourself out, ensure to always have your cloths well fitted. Communicate to your tailor to always have your native wears fitted too.

4. SURROUND YOURSELF WITH STYLISH PEOPLE (EVEN IF IT’S ONLINE)

One of my favorite quotes of all time is “You are the average of 5 people around you.” Who we surround ourselves with has an extremely important impact on our actions, behaviors, and mindsets.
When it comes to your style, that’s exactly what you need if you want to improve. You need to surround yourself with people with the same goals as you.

5. FOCUS ON A CLASSIC STYLE FIRST BEFORE TRYING TO DEVELOP A PERSONAL STYLE
A mistake people make when trying to improve their style is thinking they need to create an original, 100% unique personal style.

When you’re starting to improve your style, think of it like how chefs learn to cook:

They don’t go into the kitchen thinking they need to create some amazing and original dish never seen before.

They learn the classic recipes and techniques first. Then they start adding bits and pieces of their personality and interests in to put a spin on them.

You’re going to do the exact same thing with your style.

Focus on classic styles first, then slowly add your own personal spin later.

6. STICK TO SOLID NEUTRAL COLORS
Every man’s wardrobe should be based around neutral colors.

What are neutral colors?

They’re colors that aren’t overpowering. Because they’re not overpowering they easily mix with each other. Powerful colors like a neon green and orange? Pretty hard to work with.

If your wardrobe is all neutral colors, you don’t need to know “how to mix and match colors”. A neutral color wardrobe is essentially self-working!

Here’s the other thing: You’ve probably already been dressing in mostly neutral colors without even knowing it.

Neutral colors are white, black, navy, olive, grey, khaki, brown

This is what you can do, Take 10 minutes check your closet. Do you have more non-neutrals, graphics and pattern clothes than solid neutrals? Make a note to start balancing the colors of outfits in your wardrobe to hit a 3:1 ratio.

HOW I GOT PROMOTED WHILE WORKING FOR A MULTINATIONAL COMPANY.

You know what they say about "The way you're dressed is how you are addressed". Well, just a while ago, this popular phrase above just abruptly made its way into my long chain of thoughts and it was only then that it started to make more meaning to me.😅

I remember several years ago, I think around 2018 or thereabouts, I used to work in a multinational company located in Nigeria and even though my C.V displayed "all of the wonders" and qualifications needed for a better position, I had to settle as a trainee officer - that was the only vacant position in the company as at that time. You know how Nigeria is na.

My monthly paycheck wasn't that encouraging, I had to double as a fashion designer, it was the skill I had acquired immediately after my youth service year. The goal was to defeat Sapa.😂😂 Man must survive, abeg.

My position in the company was, of course, a low one. One that I shouldn't even probably bother about how I appeared by either attempting to wear a suit accompanied by a well-knotted tie like the manager always had on or maybe appearing in the type of classic senator wears the company secretary wore every Monday.

Well, I just wanted to be me. And "me is fashion".😊😊
Because I earned very little shouldn't mean that I should begin to dress like the financial problems I was going through.

As a fashion and creativity enthusiast that I was, every 24th of the month when my salary was paid, I would visit one of the biggest fabrics and tailoring material markets in Aba to purchase the very best of clothing materials.

I never stopped upgrading my wardrobe.😉 Like, I mean, for someone like me who has been an expert in the fashion and design game, I would use the few clothing materials I was able to purchase to make really stylish dresses and wear them to work and to the admiration of my colleagues and bosses at the office.

Imagine a trainee officer like me who earned just 50k monthly, appearing in very fashionable designer shirts Mondays through Thursdays, and well tailored senator wears and agbada wey go Harvard every Friday.😌 Omoh!😂😂

Well, early 2019, our company welcomed a new CEO. He was a Nigerian un-like the previous one, that is American and he seemed to me, a fashion enthusiast as I was. Honestly, all of his daily outfits spoke class and style.

Weeks after he was posted to our company, he was to formally meet with all the workers in all the branches, for the first time, and It was time to visit my branch.

Earlier that Friday, I had chosen to wear one of my very stylish senator wears. You could tell that I was basking in all its glory that day.😁😁

"Good day, sir".
I raised my head, slowly and in utter shock only to find the new CEO standing gigantically before me while he stretched out his hand towards mine for a handshake.

"Go...ood da..y, sir", I stuttered in response. Obviously, I was still in shock as to why a whole CEO would accord me, a common trainee officer ,the title, "sir". It was unbelievable.

"I am guessing you are Mr. Kennedy, the Branch manager", he smiled and continued, "The Chief Finance officer had informed me about you already. I'm now ready to meet with the workers. Could we schedule a meeting now?", He asked, obviously anticipating a response from me.

"No, sir", I replied in between shock and wide smiles, "I'm not the Branch manager."

"His office is over there, sir."

Oh! He sighed and gave a really long stare at my dress before walking away.
"Long story short" as they say.😅😅

The CEO took interest in me and in my fashion business. He got to know more about me and soon, I had begun making quality and exclusive dresses for him! He also developed a liking for quality Cashmere fabric dresses, I severally made suitable and elegant Senator outfits for him.

It didn't end there. After the CEO had discovered that my experience and inputs were worth more than the position I chaired, he began working out on my promotion. In less than 6 months I got promoted to a well-deserving office.

Who would have thought that my dress sense and style would usher a turning point in my life and career?

I have very USEFUL tips for my fashion lovers, especially those in love with Handmade cloths..
DON'T SKIP THIS GUYS

👉First, for those in love with Cashmere fabrics and other native wears fabrics, DESPITE how neat you want them to look, Cashmere and other native fabrics are best washed by hand, and not with machines.

Machines increases colour fades on those fabrics. So best advice is wash these materials with your hands.

👉 Never put a cashmere or any other native wear garment on immediately after ironing, as this can actually cause new wrinkles to form on the garment. Instead, let it for atlist five minutes to set. Before putting them on, this makes the garment appear more perfect and neat.

👉 BLOT, don't rub, when you spill something on your handmade cloths, wipping or rubbing will actually further ingrain the stains on the weaves of the fabrics.
And also rubbing the stains further reduces the sharpness of the fabric colours, so carefully BLOT when you spill on your garments

👉Confused about laundry settings? Remember this, while warm water is fine for washing cashmere and other native wear fabrics, linens and dirty white cashmere fabrics are best washed in hot water to remove germs and heavy soils.
Cold water is usually used for cashmere and fabrics with delicate colours.

👉 Asides white fabrics, DO NOT wash your Cashmere or other coloured native wears fabrics with strong detergents❌❌ to avoid colour fades, rather wash with soap only.

Remember the general rule of thumb is that skin with cool undertones looks best with greys, browns, blues, Greens, and purples.
skin with warm undertones looks best with either bright or light colours, while skins with neutral undertones looks great in bold bright colours.

Endeavour to choose the right colours for your fashion styles, considering your skin colours🥰

👉 Check the weather - weather is another crucial determining factor for what you should wear to any event, and you must incorporate it into your everyday fashion life.

In the Sunny seasons, a pair of short with light top, and sunshades might be your best option. And supposedly, if it's a semi formal event, you can put on vintage shirts instead of standard corporate shirts that are not always light and doesn't reduce heat.

👉 Type of Occasion - are you dressed for business? Or are you going for a party? Is it a dinner party or any other owambe event, your fashion style should expose you and make you standout .

Some simple tips are - Agbada or any lovely fitting traditional attire would qualify for a wedding party, house warming or Chieftaincy party.
