YEAST INFECTION (CANDIDIASIS)
Yeast infection, medically known as candidiasis, is a common fungal infection caused by an overgrowth of Candida, a type of fungus that naturally lives on our skin, mouth, gut, and ge***al areas. While normally harmless, it can multiply excessively under certain conditions and lead to infection.
COMMON CAUSES:
1.Hot and humid weather (encourages fungal growth)
2. Tight or non-breathable clothing
3. Poor hygiene or prolonged dampness (e.g., sweaty clothes)
4. Weak immune system
5. Prolonged antibiotic use
SYMPTOMS:
1. Itchy, red, and irritated skin
2. White patches (in mouth or tongue – oral thrush)
3. Burning sensation in affected areas
4. Thick, whitish vaginal discharge (in women)
PREVENTION TIPS:
1. Keep skin clean and dry
2. Wear loose, breathable clothing
3. Avoid unnecessary antibiotic use
4. Boost immunity with healthy diet and lifestyle
5. Practice good personal hygiene
TREATMENT:
Yeast infections are treatable with antifungal creams, oral medications, or suppositories, depending on the site and severity. It’s always best to see a doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment.
