What began as a nightmare ended in glory. Nigeria’s Super Falcons came from two goals down to defeat host nation Morocco 3–2 in a thrilling Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final, clinching their record-extending 10th title in front of a stunned crowd at Stade Olympique.

Morocco had taken a commanding lead with first-half strikes from Ghizlane Chebbak and Sanaâ Mssoudy, igniting hopes of a maiden title for the Atlas Lionesses. But the Falcons responded with the kind of championship mettle that defines dynasties. Esther Okoronkwo sparked the comeback with a penalty, then assisted Folashade Ijamilusi for the equaliser. With just two minutes left in regular time, Okoronkwo delivered a set-piece that Joe Echegini converted into the match-winner.

Coach Justin Madugu’s side displayed resilience, composure, and an unyielding belief that once again reaffirmed Nigeria’s dominance in African women’s football.

Congratulations to the Super Falcons—10-time champions and still Africa’s undisputed football queens.

Of all the injustices teachers face, this one c.uts the deepest…
Every year, when August comes, many schools hold back salaries.
Their excuse? “Teachers don’t work in August.”
But did you ever ask who writes the lesson plans during the holidays?
Who spends sleepless nights preparing notes that make your school proud?
Who silently thinks through how to help that slow learner catch up next term?
Who sacrifices their peace just to ensure your school stays afloat?

Teachers don’t get official leave like bankers or civil servants.
Their only “rest” is the school holiday—yet even that is full of work.
Some school owners still use them for August lessons…
But instead of salary, they give them crumbs from what was earned.
No recognition. No dignity. No respect. Just cold dismissal.

Have you ever seen a teacher during the holidays?
They’re not on vacation. They’re marking scripts.
They’re writing lesson notes.
They’re updating records.
They’re praying for that one child who always fails to finally pass.
They’re building the school in silence—mind, soul, and body.

Teachers are counsellors, second parents, guardians, mentors, nurses, motivators.
Their work is beyond the classroom—it is life-giving.

If you’re a school proprietor and you still deny your teachers August salary,
Let your conscience wake up today. Let it weep.

You want them to teach, but leave them to starve?
You cu.t their pay as though their worth is half?
Even angels would marvel—how can this be what they deserve?

This is a lesson everyone must not only learn but pass on to the younger ones: know the difference between a stage and a choice. Life’s stages are non-negotiable—they happen to everyone. Teething, puberty, adolescence, aging—these are stages you can’t escape. But the decisions you make within those stages? That’s where your life is either built or destroyed.

Drinking, partying, and sleeping around are not stages; they are choices. And bad choices come with consequences—unplanned kids, broken homes, STDs, addictions, lost opportunities. Too many people destroy their futures by convincing themselves, “It’s just a phase; everyone goes through it.” That’s a lie society sells to justify recklessness. Don’t fall for it.

Look around. You’ll find people who’ve chosen wisely. Some married their high school sweethearts and built stable, loving homes. Others avoided alcohol, sexual promiscuity and drugs entirely, focused on discipline, and now live peaceful, prosperous lives. These people didn’t “skip” a stage—they simply avoided destructive choices that others made excuses for.

On the flip side, you’ll see people who can’t escape the chains of their own bad decisions. They’re stuck in cycles of regret, wishing they could undo the choices that ruined them. All because they mistook recklessness for a stage of life they had to go through.

Teach your kids and siblings this: every choice has a price. Stages are inevitable, but choices are optional. Make the right ones, and you’ll build a life of strength and purpose. Make the wrong ones, and you’ll waste years cleaning up the mess.

A stage is a path nature forces you to walk. A choice is the road you decide to take. Choose wisely, because no one gets to skip the consequences. Stay disciplined, stay focused, and lead by example. That’s what real conscientious people do.

Still in the spirit of the season, compliments of the season.

Let's talk a bit about EMPLOYEE COMPETENCE.

Michael Jackson was the king of Pop.

Michael Jordan was the king of Basketball.

Michael Jackson featured Michael Jordan in his video for the song 'Jam'.

In the video Jordan showed his great skills as a basketball god, and Jackson showed his skills as a dance god.

Then it became interesting.

Jordan tried to dance, and his gross incompetence was on full display.

Jackson tried to play basketball, and his gross incompetence was on full display.

Your employees have areas where they excel, and in most cases you hired them because they are great in one area.

If you try to force them to excel in areas where they are weak, you will be disappointed by their gross incompetence.

My advice, focus on their strengths.

Here's an exercise for you this morning.

For each of your staff do the following:

1. Write out 3-5 areas where you are SURE the person performs excellently. (Nobody is actually useless, even a rag is useful. Look well, you will find).

2. Write out 3 areas you think they can improve on, that will help them become better at their jobs and in the personal lives.

3. Sit down with each employee to discuss these things, and ask them if they would like you to help them improve.

Listen when they talk.
Take notes.
Ask questions.
Celebrate the areas where they are strong.
Be gentle when you talk about their weaknesses.

4. Organize/pay for them to attend training to help them:
- Sharpen their saw in those areas where they excel.
- Improve in those areas where they are weak.

Training can be online or in person, but invest in the personal growth of your team. Your business will thank you for it.

The National Intelligence Agency, NIA has called for a legislative framework to empower private licensed security personnel to bear arms. Director General of the NIA, Ahmed Abubakar made the call in Abuja while speaking at the 1st Nigerian Private Security Industry Summit. Abubakar who was represented by Mr Ayuba Kadafar said private licensed security companies should also be legally empowered to carry out VIP protection, private investigation, es**rt duties and use of bullet proof verse. He further advocated that their uniforms should be standardized, adding that those to be engaged must be made to undergo drug test.
Declaring the summit open, the minister of interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola disclosed that the federal government is taking steps to formally integrate licensed private security companies into the national security architecture. Aregbesola who was represented by his Senior Special Adviser on strategy and Innovation, Prof. Ademola Adeyinka solicited the support of private licensed companies in tracking fleeing inmates, saying that the ministry is working with Nigerian Correctional Service to provide them with details of the escapees. He further tasks security companies on intelligence gathering and sharing with security agencies to help check kidnapping, banditry, armed robbery and other forms of criminalities. While acknowledging the strategic role Private Security Industry play in reducing unemployment, the minister re-affirmed the commitment of the federal government towards reform especially in the area of training and assigning them role in the protection of critical infrastructure.
Also speaking, the Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ahmed Audi wants the operations of private guards to be intelligence driven so as to enhance their contribution to the safe school programme of the federal government. He disclosed that vulnerability studies conducted by the NSCDC in twenty one thousand schools shows that sixteen thousand schools are porous. The Commandant-General tasks participants at the summit to critically x-ray the prevailing security challenges in the country and chat the way forward.
Speaking earlier, President of the Association of Licensed Private Security Practitioners of Nigeria, ALPSPN Bar. Wilson Esangbedo identified lack of access to loan and multiple taxation as some of the challenges confronting the private subsector security sector. He urged government to intervene to ameliorate their plight. Other stakeholders who spoke at the event including representatives of the police, correctional service and Federal Road Safety Corps all described security as every body’s business and urged people to always give information to security agencies to help nip crime in the bud.
