AGSMEIS Loan training!

Today 27/7/2020 the first batch of over 200 registered Applicants start their 5-day training at Waziri Junaidu History and Culture Bureu, Sokoto.

The objective of the training is to build the capacities of the prospective beneficiaries to be able to effectively manage their business with a view to repaying the loan as at when due.

The training is a continuous exercise and interested persons shall contact SOSMEDA's office on 2nd floor, block 2, Shehu Kangiwa Secteriat, Sokoto.

SOSMEDA IS NOW AN ACCREDITED ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTION.

The Management of NIRSAL Microfinance Bank Ltd, Abuja has approved the Accreditation of Sokoto State Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency ( SOSMEDA) as Entrepreneurship Development Institution (EDI) to provide Business Development Support Services to applicants who wish to access the Agri-business/Small and Medium Enterprises Investment Scheme (AGSMEIS) Loan through NIRSAL Microfinance Bank Ltd.

All interested applicants shall come to SOSMEDA Business Clinic at 2nd Floor, Block 2,Shehu Kangiwa Secteriat, Sokoto for,

1. Documentation
2. Business Plan Development
3.One-week compulsory training
4.Upload of applicants.

This development was one of the positive outcomes of 10-day partnership meetings in Abuja embarked by the officials of the Agency led by Hon.Special Adviser.

Alhamdullah.

The final lap of partnership meetings took SOSMEDA delegation to the apex Nigeria's Financial Systems, the Central Bank of Nigeria Corporate Head Office in Abuja.

The delegation, under the leadership of the Hon.Special Adviser to Governor of Sokoto State on SMEs Development, Muhammad Akibu Dalhatu held discussions with officials of the Development Finance Department of the Bank who were led by the Director and Heads of SMEs Finance Office, Public Advisory Office, Products Development Office, Anchor Borrowers and the Financial Inclusion Secretariat.

The discussions were centred around perspective of Development Initiatives of the CBN and how SOSMEDA and by extension, Sokoto State Government can intensely benefit from such Laudable Initiatives.

Members of the delegation were briefed on programmes such as he MSMEs Development fund,Agri-business Small and Medium Enterprises Investment Scheme (AGSMEIS), Creative Industry Financing Initiative, Youth Innovative Entrepreneurship Development Programme (YIEDP) amongst others.

The need for institutional co-ordination through the direct involvement of Sokoto State Government in the implementation of AGSMEIS was highlighted as it would enable effective mobilisation and enlightenment of prospective beneficiaries.

SOSMEDA was also encouraged to obtain the nessessary accreditation to become Entrepreneurship Development Institution in order to train and Business Development Support Services to applicants in Sokoto State.

In continuation of partnership meetings with critical stakeholders in the MSMEs sub-sector in Abuja, SOSMEDA delegation visited the Headquarters of NEXIM Bank and NIRSAL.

The delegation which was led by the Hon.Special Adviser to the Governor of Sokoto on SMEs development, Muhammad Akibu Dalhatu included the Director General, Aishatu Hassan and other staff of the Agency.

At NEXIM Bank,the delegation was received by the Managing Director, Alh.Abba Bello in company of some Executive Directors and other top management staff of the Bank.

Fruitful discussions were held in areas considered beneficial to Sokoto State and the two parties agreed to work together to achieve the objectives of the partnership.

At NIRSAL Microfinance Bank Ltd,the delegation was warmly received by managing Director AA Kure and other top officials of the Bank.

Discussions covered the implementation of AGSMEIS programme with special emphasis on institutional coordination.

The managing Director assured that SOSMEDA will be considered for Accreditation as Entrepreneurship Development Institution for provision of Business Development Support Services to potential beneficiaries of its programmes.

FAMILIARIZATION VISIT.

As part of his efforts to reposition SOSMEDA for better performance and effective service delivery, The Hon. Special adviser adviser to the sokoto state governor on SOSMEDA, Muhammad Akibu Dalhatu in company of Director General SOSMEDA, Hajiya Aishatu Hassan, today led some staffs of the Agency to familiarization visit to Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria SMEDAN and Technology Incubation centre,Sokoto.

The Hon.Special adviser and his team was warmly received by the management and staffs of the agencies.

The management of the agencies briefed the special adviser on the activities of the centres which includes research and development in the SMEs subsector, training and linkages to funding opportunities among others.

In his response, the special adviser on SOSMEDA, Muhammad Akibu Dalhatu commended the efforts of the centres and called for gender Mainstreaming in the activities of the centres.

He assured that his Agency will continue to collaborate with the centres through well coordinated programmes especially women and youths in the state.

Official Launch Of Google Digital Skills (GDS) Training.
The Special Adviser, SOSMEDA wishes to inform all Entrepreneurs across Sokoto State that the Hon. Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Haj. A'isha Abubakar will perform the official launch of 3-day Google Digital Skills (GDS) Training Programme in Sokoto on Tuesday, 4th September, 2018.
The Google Digital Skills training is intended for Entrepreneurs, both new and existing, to enable them learn Digital Skills Online, Grow their Businesses, Create Job Opportunities and other opportunities provided through Google Digital Skills.
The training is scheduled to hold at the Digital Learning Center, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto from 4th to 6th September, 2018 between 8:00am to 4:00pm. SOKOTO STATE EMERGES WINNER OF THE MAIDEN EDITION OF NATIONAL MSME AWARDS.
Sokoto State has emerged the winner of the maiden edition of the National MSME Awards. The National MSME Award was initiated by the Vice President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo to recognize and reward MSMEs who have been outstanding in their operations.
At an elaborate Awards Ceremony held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Wednesday, 2nd August, 2018, Yelwa Shea Butter from Sokoto State emerged winner of Excellence in Beauty, Wellness and Cosmetics category.
The Award of Excellence was presented to Malam Usman Aminu by an elated Hon. Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Hajiya A'isha Abubakar.

SOSMEDA JOINS THE GLOBAL COMMUNITY TO CELEBRATE MSME DAY 2018. The Sokoto State Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency today joins the Global Community in celebrating the 2018 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Day. The United Nations General Assembly, recognizing the need to improve small businesses access to microfinance and credit, decided to designate June 27 of every year as MSME Day through its Resolution No A/RES/71/279.
MSME Day highlights the strong contributions of MSMEs worldwide to Livelihoods, Communities and Economics and the need to support MSMEs towards their success. The 2018 MSME Day with the Theme; 'The Youth Dimension' will be dedicated to Youth and will cover topics such as Youth Entrepreneurship and Youth Employment. SOSMEDA enjoins all relevant stakeholders in the MSMEs subsector across Sokoto State to be part of the celebration in order to advocate the importance of MSMEs in Youth Employment as well as raise awareness around the skills needed by Youth to acquire direct jobs.

Award of Excellence conferred on the Director General, Sokoto State Small, Medium Enterprises and Microfinance Agency, Haj. Aishatu Hassan Turai for her outstanding contributions towards successful implementation of USAID Feed the Future Livelihoods Project in Sokoto State. On hand to confer the honour was the Head of the Civil Service, Dr Buhari Bello Kware on behalf of the Chief of Party.
