Business is not for the weakā€¦ itā€™s for the wise.

One thing Iā€™ve learned running Mudiā€™s Concept is this, not every smile is good business.

A customer owed me a good sum of money, promised to pay before month endā€¦ but didnā€™t. Days later, she reached out, paid a little, and then brought back some goods she couldnā€™t sell.

The painful part? The body sprays I gave her in perfect condition came back looking black and damaged within just two weeksā€¦ yet she confidently said nothing was wrong.

At that moment, I had every reason to reactā€¦ but I chose to stay calm and observe.

And I learned something again: In business, calmness is good, but boundaries are better.

From now on: No unclear payments.
No returns on damaged goods.
No bending rules because ā€œI know you.ā€
Whether youā€™re close to me or not, business is business.

I value my customers, but I also value my brand.

One day, I gifted my daughterā€™s teacher a medium-sized bottle of oil perfume. Just a simple gestureā€¦ nothing too big.

As I was about leaving, another teacher quickly told her,
"Ah! She sells perfumes o, wholesale for different collections!"
Immediately, the teacher shouted, ā€œI want my own!ā€

I smiled and said, ā€œNo wahala.ā€

Fast forward to another day I visited the schoolā€¦

She asked for my contact and said something that stayed with me:

"Mummy ..., your perfumes are very nice and long-lasting. People around me love it. I want to start selling it as a side hustle alongside my teaching job."

I smiled againā€¦ and this time, I came prepared.
I placed half a dozen perfumes right inside my daughterā€™s school bag for her.

Today?
That same teacher has stocked perfumes worth about ā‚¦50,000ā€¦ and she didnā€™t stop there. She has added boxers and body sprays to her business.

Every time she restocks, she says:
"Thank God for that perfume gift oā€¦ now I can save and make small small money."
