This morning, I was reading the Book of Ruth again… and I’m seeing it differently.
Ruth was not just a woman in a story she was a vessel, a decision-maker, someone whose choices carried eternal weight. And the more I read, the more I realized… this story is deeper than we think.
In Ruth 1, two people had the same opportunity—Orpah and Ruth. Both experienced loss. Both stood at a turning point. Orpah went back… but Ruth stayed.
That moment is so real.
Because even today, many people start the journey, but not everyone continues. Some turn back when it gets hard. Some walk away when it stops being convenient.
But Ruth said something that still echoes in my spirit:
“Your people shall be my people, and your God my God” (Ruth 1:16).
She wasn’t just following Naomi… she was choosing God.
And I feel this strongly this is a call to anyone who has gone far from God, anyone who feels disconnected, anyone who feels like going back… Christ is still waiting for you.
The same way Ruth turned and aligned herself to the true God, you too can return. The door is still open. The cross is still speaking. Salvation is still available. (John 3:16)
Ruth didn’t have a perfect past. She was a Moabite, an outsider… yet God accepted her, rewrote her story, and gave her a place in the lineage of Jesus Christ (Matthew 1:5).
That means no one is too far gone.
Then I saw something else mentorship.
Naomi was not just her mother-in-law. Naomi was her covering, her mentor, her spiritual guide. Even when Naomi had nothing, Ruth stayed. Even when the future was unclear, Ruth remained connected.
In a time where people easily disconnect from their pastors, their spiritual leaders, their place of growth… Ruth stayed.
And because she stayed, she was positioned.
Ruth 2 shows her in the field serving, humble, unnoticed. But God saw her. And God connected her to Boaz. Not by struggle, but by alignment.
Ruth 3 shows obedience. She listened to instruction. She didn’t act on impulse. She moved with wisdom and honor. There is something powerful about staying under godly counsel (Hebrews 13:17).
And Ruth 4… God finished it beautifully.
From emptiness to fullness.
From outsider to accepted.
From brokenness to purpose.
And this is what is touching me deeply:
Ruth didn’t chase anything she chose God, she stayed planted, she followed divine guidance… and God gave her a future she could never have imagined.
So this is not just a story.
This is an invitation.
An invitation to stay with God.
An invitation to return to Christ if you have drifted.
An invitation to remain under the right mentorship.
An invitation to trust God even when life is unclear.
If you are reading this and you feel far from God… come back.
If you are tired, confused, or discouraged… stay.
If you are under a covering God placed you in… don’t disconnect.
Because God is still writing stories like Ruth’s.
And the truth is—He is not looking for perfect people.
He is looking for hearts that will say yes, stay committed, and follow Him fully.
Maybe your own story is about to change… the moment you turn back to Him.
