FEDERAL FIRE SERVICE, AKWA IBOM STATE COMMAND SECURES STRATEGIC FIRE SAFETY PARTNERSHIP WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF UYO
The Federal Fire Service (FFS), Akwa Ibom State Command, has secured a strategic partnership with the University of Uyo to enhance institutional risk management, safeguard academic assets, and foster a proactive fire safety culture on campus.
On the 13th of August 2026, acting under the directive of the State Controller, Chief Superintendent of Fire (CSF) Nkanang Mayen Charles FCAI, the Command formally established the collaboration during a strategic meeting with the University's Director of Works, Engr. War T. Victor I. Core objectives of this partnership include comprehensive risk assessments, capacity building, continuous evaluation, and coordinated training.
Speaking during the interface with the Director of Works, SF Udoh Mbuotidem emphasized the necessity of the alliance: "It is our statutory responsibility to ensure that critical environments like universities are not only safe but strictly compliant with national fire safety protocols to protect lives and property."
Moving forward, the FFS and the University will launch targeted on-campus sensitization campaigns through the university fire warden. The Command remains committed to sustained engagement, ensuring the University of Uyo serves as a benchmark for institutional safety.
