FEDERAL FIRE SERVICE AKWA IBOM STATE COMMAND HOSTS NYSC OFFICIALS ON COURTESY VISIT TO STRENGTHEN INTER-AGENCY COLLABORATION
In a strategic move to bolster public safety and foster inter-agency synergy, the State Controller of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), Akwa Ibom State Command, CSF Nkanang Mayen Charles, hosted senior officials of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Akwa Ibom State, on a high-level courtesy visit to the Command Headquarters today, 30th March 2026.
The visit centered on consolidating the existing partnership between the two federal entities, particularly in the areas of safety awareness, emergency preparedness, and community service. with a specific focus to empower corps members as frontline safety ambassadors within the state.
Commitment to Youth Empowerment and Fire Safety
Welcoming the delegation, CSF Nkanang Mayen Charles expressed her profound appreciation for the NYSC’s enduring contribution to national unity and development. She noted that the vigor of the youth remains a vital asset in disaster risk reduction. In her statement,
"Safety is a collective responsibility, and the NYSC provides a unique platform to disseminate life-saving information,"
She further proposed intensified fire drills and safety workshops at the NYSC Orientation Camp and various Corpers’ Lodges across the state to ensure a fire-conscious youth population.
The Akwa Ibom State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mrs. Ngozi Akuagbaogu, lauded the Command for its hospitality and professional excellence. She underscored the indispensable role the Federal Fire Service plays in safeguarding lives and property, which is fundamental to the stability of any community.
Mrs. Akuagbaogu reaffirmed the NYSC’s readiness to collaborate on statewide sensitization programs. She emphasized that through this partnership, corps members would gain valuable skills in disaster management, further enriching their service year and enhancing their value to their host communities.
The meeting concluded with a formal exchange of ideas on logistical support and the scheduling of joint sensitization exercises. The visit was capped with a symbolic handshake between the two heads of agency and a group photograph with senior officers from both agencies, marking a renewed era of cooperation.
The Federal Fire Service remains committed to its mission of fire prevention and remains open to partnerships that ensure the "Land of Promise" remains the "Land of Safety."
