PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR INTERPERSONAL LEADERSHIP

You can't be developing people without continually and consciously developing yourself. Don't think it, it's impossible.

If you are a leader, whether religious or secular, without adding to your mental content and capacity, your audience, followers, employees or members will become bored and worn out by the monotony of your message and the wanton and careless repetition of words in "your art of persuation. And that emphasizes lack of growth and absence of change in those you lead.

Every great man or leader in the world read, at least, 30minutes in a day. You can't buy excellence with carelessness and indolence. You can't fuel others without refueling yourself. Know it and start developing your content. Read books. It works. Enough of that repetition. Enough of that classical adage..

DEVELOPMENT VS EMPOWERMENT/ EQUIPMENT

When you equip and empower people, you teach them to do a job. I mean just a job. When you develop them, you are helping them to improve as individuals.

As a leader, develop your subjects, followers or employees. Pay attention to their developmental needs. This will always pay higher dividends than equipping and empowering because it helps the whole person and lifts him to a higher level.

Empowering is a quick fix, a band aid, a short cut. Discover the dreams and desires of your children, spouse, employees, church members, team members etc. Then endeavor to lead them differently.

...AND YOU CALL YOURSELF A LEADER?

A good LEADER must lead with his heart and his head. This is because you will constantly be confronted by what you WANT and what you NEED. Your wants and real to the heart because they are EMOTIONAL and your needs appeal to the head because they are LOGICAL.

Now, the balance will be created by how you deal with your "SELF". That is the ability to know what you WANT and what your followers NEED.
Our SELF is naturally too proud and selfish, unconsciously too conscious of position, class and status. Too insatiable of others' gratitude toward us, and too rebellious of others'reproves on us.

Don't be too emotional. Break out of your SELF. Be logical in your thoughts and perception of your leadership objectives, your purpose, calling and those you are leading. Break the ego, deal with that pride. And that's how to win the trust, loyalty and faithfulness of your followers whether you are secular or religious leaders.

CHANGE IS WHAT YOU NEED

"Change is constant". It is even inevitable in animals and, of course, a very important phenomenon in the growth processes of higher animals like human beings.

However, before you change any particular situation, problem or condition, you must first change your perception of that situation or problem. I mean how you see that particular situation or problem.

You cannot change a person. You can't change your spouse. You can't change your children or siblings. You can't change your manager or your HOD. But you can change the way you see them, and that perception will definitely change them.

Your perception is key. Don't see him as an unfaithful husband or a cheat. Don't see her as a nagging wife or "an inevitable burden". Don't see that manager or HOD as authoritarian or "too hard". Don't see that boy as stubborn or a dull son.

You are a leader. You are the change you need. Lead the change and others will follow. Why?
Change is in the eyes.
Change is in the mind.
Change is in the spirit.
And Change is SPIRITUAL.
