GROWING THROUGH LIFE ONE DAY AT A TIME...I used to think growth was loud—that I would feel it happening. But most days, it didn’t feel like growth at all. It felt like waking up tired, doing what I could, and hoping it was enough.
Some days I showed up strong. Other days, I only showed up. And for a long time, I thought the days where I only survived didn’t count.
But they did.
I learned that growing through life isn’t about big breakthroughs every day. It’s about choosing today. About getting up, trying again, and giving what I have—even when it feels small.
There were days nothing seemed to change. No visible progress. No applause. Just consistency. Just patience.
Then one day, I looked back and realized I wasn’t where I used to be. I had grown quietly—through ordinary days, through mistakes, through grace I didn’t even know I was practicing.
Now I understand: growth happens one day at a time.
Not perfectly.
Not loudly.
But faithfully.
And I’m learning to honor every step.

And barely a week after she has spoken out, NYSC has suddenly announced that corps members will indeed be paid ₦77,000 effective this month. For a promise that was made since September 2024. Coincidence? Maybe. But can we ignore the timing? Can we deny the ripple effect her voice may have had? Whether or not the authorities will ever admit it, Rita may very well have been the unlikely architect of this long-awaited implementation. Her courage forced a long-stalled conversation back into the public space. Her frustration put the spotlight on a silent failure. And whether by pressure, coincidence, or conscience, action followed. Her story is a reminder that in a democracy, even the smallest voices can rattle the walls of complacency. That sometimes, progress isn’t handed down; it’s demanded. And that when a citizen dares to speak the truth, even in a TikTok video, it can spark a movement too loud to ignore. So yes; maybe history will remember her not just as a corps member who complained, but as the one who spoke when it mattered. And perhaps, we should all be grateful that she did.

Most of you should know me pretty well. I no longer accept very many friends because I feel it’s not for me. And of late I’m not a fan of the platform. Almost every FB friend I have, I’ve known on some level, you are not just a number. But if you are still on my FB, it’s because we have some connection. I would love to see if we can still chat more than just likes... I decided to participate in an experience called “Meeting between Bowls of rice”. The idea is to see who reads a post without a photo. We are so consumed with technology that we forget the most important thing: good friendship. If no one is reading this message, it will be a short social experiment. But if you finish this till the end, I would love you to comment in ONE WORD about us. For example, a place, an object, a person, a moment in which you remember us. Then copy this post and post it on your page (don’t share) and I’ll go to your page and leave a word that reminds me of you. Please don’t comment if you don’t have time to copy the text. This will destroy the experiment. Let’s see who spent their time to read and respond according to the common story.
