Citizens against corruption
CURBING CORRUPTION IN THE NDDC: HOW SHOULD CITIZENS ENGAGE?
Speaking on the “Voice on NDDC” today, Comrade Adefolarin Olamilekan urged all citizens of Nigeria to join in the fight against corruption in the NDDC.
According to the Comrade, the NDDC was not created to fail. Rather, it was meant to cater for the interest of the Niger Delta regions and bring about regional development. Ironically, the Niger Delta regions remain underdeveloped as corruption and gross fiscal recklessness permeates the NDDC. This the Comrade ascribed to lack of active engagement by citizens and a clash of interest between the Elites and the people of the Niger Delta.
The Comrade therefore stressed the need for active and strategic engagement by citizens of the Niger Delta and Nigeria at large.
In his recommendations, citizens must
✅Be ready to mobilize themselves to act as watch dogs of the NDDC.
✅Form alliance with groups, national and international organization who are involved in the campaign against corruption.
✅ Engage in serious social media campaign against corruption in the NDDC.
✅Take up legal action against delay and denials on FOI requests sent to various ministries.
The Comrade further called on the Presidency to support the campaign for an accountable NDDC by,
✍🏽Reviewing the procurement process of the NDDC.
✍🏽Ensuring that the NDDC budget is passed on time and made public.
✍🏽Inaugurating a substantive board for the NDDC.
✍🏽Making public the findings of the Forensic Audit of the NDDC and begin the prosecution of those found culpable in the report.
The Campaign for a transparent and accountable NDDC continues.
Together we can stamp out corruption in the NDDC!
