New publication!
Our note titled "New departmental and noteworthy records of mammals (Mammalia, Theria) from Nicaragua" is out!
We add new records and localities for 3 species of opossums, 18 of bats, one pocket gopher, and one mustelid. All coming from 21 sites sampled between 2014 and 2023.
Some of these new records include the first full official record of Marmosa nicaraguae in the country since 1935 (holotypes that live the UMMZ since). We also add the first ever photos of an alive Nicaraguan Pocket Gopher (Heterogeomys cherriei matagalpae).
And... of course bats! almost too many to mention here but tons of second, third, and other records that help the understanding of the distribution of the species in Nicaragua and Central America.
This work would not be possible without the collaboration of all the coauthors and colleagues that help conducting fieldwork, writing, and revising the data. Thank you all!.
Now is time to start working on the next one since sampling this year yielded almost as many noteworthy findings in two months as this last paper.
