IMPERIAL FLAG OF BRAZIL - MEANING, HISTORY AND COLORS:

The flag of Imperial Brazil is rectangular. With a green background, in the center there was a yellow-gold plosango. At the center of the Losango was the national coat of arms (imperial).

This coat of arms consisted of a green shield, with the armored sphere and the Cross of the Order of Christ (in red) in the center. There was also a blue background ring with 20 white stars (representing the Brazilian provinces). Over the shield lay the imperial crown. On the left side there was a coffee branch and on the right side a to***co branch.

Meanings:

The meanings of the graphic elements and colors of the Brazilian imperial flag are not known exactly. However, there are chances, and the most accepted ones are:

- Green color: symbolized the House of Bragança, a dynasty of which Father Peter I was part of.

- Yellow color: it symbolized the House of the Habsburgs which belonged to Empress D. Austrian Leopoldina

- Coffee and to***co branches: they represented the two main agricultural products of Imperial Brazil.

Crown: symbol of the monarchy.

- Cross of the Order of Christ: valuing Christianity in Brazil and the Catholic religion as official.
