55 years of Diana Yacht Design

Founded in 1971 by three Dutch engineers; Joost Beekman, Cor van der Wiel and Kees Kolff.

From hand-drawn plans to detailed 3D construction models, Diana Yacht Design has contributed to the design, naval architecture and engineering of custom yachts for 55 years.

Over the decades, projects have grown in size and complexity, while our independent approach and close collaboration with owners, designers and shipyards have remained.

A look back at the yachts, the technical development and, above all, the people who have been part of DIANA’s history.

From construction to cruising.

A look back at ACE, the first 44-metre yacht in the C144S series, launched by Conrad Shipyard in Gdansk, Poland, in October 2022.

With naval architecture by Diana Yacht Design, ACE reflects the close collaboration between the shipyard, designers and engineers, bringing design and engineering together from concept to completion.

The tenth Moonen 122 Martinique, YN208, reaches an important stage in construction as her aluminium superstructure is joined to the steel hull.

Connecting these two structures requires careful planning and engineering, with the steel-to-aluminium transition considered from the earliest design stages.

Next stop Monaco!

Next week, the DIANA team will be at the Monaco Yacht Show.

Four days in Port Hercule to meet with shipyards and industry partners, discuss projects in development, and see the latest yachts, engineering solutions and ideas taking shape across the industry.

We will also come across a few familiar yachts in this year’s fleet, including My Lady, Lady Maxine and S7.
And making her world debut: the new Moonen 122 Martinique LOLLIPOP, for which we contributed the naval architecture.

Looking forward to four days of good conversations and plenty to see on the docks.

A yacht show is one of the few places where very different technical solutions can be seen side by side.

How functions are integrated. How available space is used. How design ideas translate into full-scale solutions.

For naval architects and engineers, there is always more to see than the finished yacht alone.

Another Martinique begins her journey.

LOLLIPOP has been delivered to her owners and is ready for her first cruising season.

As the eighth yacht built on Moonen’s proven Martinique platform, she combines long-range cruising capability with the performance and comfort the series has become known for.

As the naval architect behind the Martinique platform, we’re proud to see another yacht leave the yard and head for open water.

Congratulations to the owners of LOLLIPOP, the team@at Moonen Yachts, and to everyone involved in bringing her to life.

We wish her owners many wonderful memories and safe voyages in the years ahead.

Project Milestone | SHINE | 2026 | 39.9m

Earlier this month, Shine, formerly known as Project EVO, was launched at .shipyard in the Netherlands.

Projects like this come together through close collaboration between owner, shipyard, designers and engineers. Our team contributed to the project on structural engineering, integrating the exterior styling, interior layout and fast-displacement hull into a cohesive structure.

Great to see Shine touch the water and move into her next phase.

Steel hull. Aluminium superstructure

This is the moment both come together, completing the outer shell of the superyacht.

After carefully planning every detail of the transition from the earliest design stage, the connection is now made using a special material which allows the craftsmen to weld steel directly to aluminium.

This is the work before the work.
