Healthy soils are critical for a resilient future.

New research from the European Commission's Joint Research Centre shows that a significant share of European agricultural land is at risk of losing soil organic carbon, highlighting the need for targeted soil management and conservation measures. At EARTH, we recognize the vital role of soil carbon in supporting climate resilience, biodiversity, and sustainable land use.

AI is transforming how we understand soil and water systems.

A new review in the International Journal of Applied Earth Observation and Geoinformation highlights how AI-driven remote sensing is improving soil moisture monitoring, forecasting, and climate resilience. At EARTH, we’re excited by innovations that combine data, technology, and environmental science to support more sustainable land management.

🌱 Listening to the hidden life beneath our feet.

Artist Nikki Lindt brings soil to life through sound and art — translating underground processes like permafrost thaw and soil ecosystems into immersive experiences that deepen our connection to the Earth.

At EARTH, we’re inspired by work like this that bridges science, culture, and environment — a vision shared with SoilTribes, where soil becomes a source of knowledge, connection, and change.

This year the theme for World Water Day is 'water and gender'. The global water crisis affects everyone – but not equally. Where people lack the human rights to safe drinking water and sanitation, inequalities flourish, with women and girls bearing the brunt. It’s time to centre women and girls in water solutions.
