Natural cocoa butter contains the flavours and aromas that are the essence of the bean. Making up more than 50% of the bean’s composition, the quality of the butter is directly associated with the quality of the cocoa bean… and consequently the chocolate bar. 🍫

With traceability right back to the origin and farmer, natural butter retains every antioxidant and nutrient the bean has to offer.

Our traceable organic Dominican Republic Barrancoli Natural Butter is made from carefully selected cacao beans grown in the Duarte province by our local partner Zorzal Cacao 🌱

Meet José Batista. 🇧🇷🌿

His family arrived in the Pará region of the Brazilian Amazon over 50 years ago — pioneers on a dirt road, two and a half hours from anywhere, building something from nothing.

The public policy at the time required families to clear at least half their land to receive the deeds. But José’s family quickly realised that cacao needs shade. That it needs the forest canopy to thrive. And so, guided by instinct and observation, they left the trees standing.

“They didn’t have any help or assistance. They were there as pioneers and had to figure it out for themselves. But through that, they preserved the forest and planted cacao underneath it. For me, this is true sustainability — when people do it from their hearts, from observation and intuition.” — Claudia, Origin Amazônia

Through that decision, they preserved extraordinary biodiversity and created something rare. A farm where fine flavour cacao grows beneath a living Amazon canopy, exactly as nature intended.

José’s story is the story of that entire region. And now, through our partnership with Origin Amazônia, his cacao is ready to be shared with the world. 🍫

Meet Leslie, one of our origin partners. 🌍

We asked him why he works with Cacao Latitudes. His answer says everything about what we believe sourcing should look like.

Supporting before the first bean is sold. Handling logistics. Finding the right customers. Investing in the community behind the cacao, as well as the product.

This is what long-term partnership looks like. 🌱

Trust. Transparency. Unity.

CEPROAA Amazonas cacao

Good news - this is now available in both Europe and the US... and stock is going fast. 👀→

More than 50 farming families grow native Cajamarca-Amazonas cacao at 400-750 metres above sea level... in a landscape where modern hybrids have come to dominate, they carry the responsibility of preserving centuries-old genetics. →

This is Peru’s first ever Denomination of Origin cocoa. Less than 1% of the world’s cocoa supply holds that status. →

Working alongside our sourcing partners Original Beans | Taste the Rare and CEPROAA, these farming families are preserving native trees, improving post-harvest processes, and protecting these genetics for generations to come. 🌱→

Taste notes: Floral honey. Nutty creaminess. A finish of citrus. 🍫→

Interested in Amazonas Nativo? Email our Europe or US team directly to discuss availability and place your order.
