Tinctoria Natural Handmade Colours was a small business in naturally dyed and printed textiles. Ambitions in sustainability meant a lot of research.

Tannic from oak galls and a cold ironsulfate vat make black on silk viscose velvet. I boil this off to be sure the fabric will not get destroyed by the iron. Then a print with discharge. You can learn about this in my workshops, 18-22 of June with social distancing of 1,5 m. See webshop.
Met tannine van galappels en een koud ijzersulfaat bad maak ik eerst zwart op zijde viscose fluweel. Daarna kook ik dit met zeep zodat de stof niet kan worden aangetast door het ijzersulfaat. Vervolgens bedruk ik het met etspasta. Dit kan je leren in mijn workshops in de week van 18 - 22 juni met 1,5 m afstand. In mijn webshop.

Dyeing workshop at Atelier Fiberfusing in October. Teaching best mordants and tricks of the dyers trade. Very practical and efficient indigo vats. And an introduction to shibori to make overdyeing more fun. Actually all students were satisfied with just learning about the colour possibilties. Next class will be 17-19 of June.
Verf workshop bij Atelier Fiberfusing. Ik leg uit over de beste beitsmethodes en verftechnieken. En over mijn praktische en efficiënte indigokuip. Ook laat ik shibori oververven zien. Maar de studenten waren allemaal al tevreden met het leren over de kleur mogelijkheden. Volgende workshop 17-19 juni.

Cochineal dyeing and printing. Loving the combination with madder. Reminds me of the flowers on our roof terrace.
Cochenille verven en drukken. Ook zo aantrekkelijk in combinatie met meekrap. Doet me denken aan de bloemen op ons dakterras.

Dyeing tops or sliver, merino and mohair. Without felting. Patience and gentleness with my hands turning them and a steady indigo vat.
Indigo verving op merino lontwol en mohair. Geduld, heel zachte hand bewegingen en een goed indigo bad. Nauwelijks of geen vervilting.

Working this week with Francesca Crespi on indigo upcycling of linen pants and cotton T-shirts. She painted indigo on h**p and linen and cotton. Most went as expected but there was also a spectacular surprise.
