Colorful Parade from Dam Square to the Tolhuistuin, where the festival kicks off
Namaste Festival takes place on Sunday, June 21 2026 in Amsterdam. The colorful festival is organized by the Nepalese community in the Netherlands, which aims to contribute to a better connection and social cohesion through its vibrant and culinary culture and spiritual tradition.
Nepal houses breathtaking nature and is known as the birthplace of Buddha and the roof of the world, where harmony, spirituality, and tolerance go hand in hand with diversity. This festival contributes further to strengthening the relationship between two countries by promoting its culture, tourism and trade in the Netherlands. Despite of the geographical differences like Nepal as a highland and Netherlands as a lowland their relationship has been very close sharing the common international values and getting involved in in social-economical, tourism and trade sectors of Nepal.
The program of Namaste Festival is diverse. In the morning, there is a cultural parade that begins around 10:00 AM at the Dam Square with music and dance performances. Afterwards, the colorful parade continues along the Damrak to Central Station and crosses over to the Tolhuistuin by ferry. The parade is accompanied by the Nepalese music band. Everyone is welcome to walk along, dance along, and enjoy the traditional costumes and culture. After the opening ceremony at 1:00 PM, inaugurated by the ambassador of Nepal along the representative of Municipality of Amsterdam, the party really kicks off on three stages at the Tolhuistuin. Enjoy the cultural activities and the lively atmosphere to the fullest. Throughout the day, there will be live music performances, dance shows, and opportunities to enjoy culinary delights from the Himalayas. Furthermore, there is also an opportunity to unwind by attending sound bowl yoga and meditation sessions.
In addition to enjoying a day in Nepal in Amsterdam, there is also the opportunity to obtain information about the country, travel, and culture. There is an info market where you can go with your questions.
