Introduction:

PJ has been working with Yike (Youth Initiatives Kenya) for over 10 years. Yike supports youth groups who are serious about setting up IGA's (income generating activities) to build better lives for themselves and their community in the slums of Nairobi.

During his last visit in Nairobi in september 2016 PJ met with the acrobats from one of the youth groups in Dandora (one of the many establishments in the Eastlands of Nairobi) and they started talking about parkour and free running.

Back in the Netherlands PJ started brainstorming with Sepp about ways of supporting the local acrobat/parkour community in Nairobi. After a couple brainstorm sessions the idea was born to organize a national fundraiser to be able to build a small parkour park in one of the establishments in Nairobi.

In october 2016 we started a whatsapp group with key players in the project and to really get things going we started having Skype meetings with Yike and one of the acrobats.

And so the Parkour4Kenya project was born.
