Today at Startup Village Amsterdam, we hosted The Nursery Presents: From Startup to Scaleup Part 1, led by Jorn Eiting van Liempt, business developer at ROM InWest.

The workshop focused on building a strong foundation for long-term growth: staying focused, finding a repeatable and scalable business model, and preparing your startup for the next stage.

Startup Village Amsterdam 10 years!
Last Tuesday, 22 September, we celebrated the 10th anniversary of Startup Village Amsterdam.

It all started in 2016 by founding team Peter Krijnsen, Suzanne Hansen, Marc Salomon and Erik Boer and Dennis van der Pas to create a place where students and founders could come together and entrepreneurship could grow. This has developed into a community with 35 affordable container offices and a free co-working space - all with one shared goal: to help entrepreneurship and innovation thrive at Amsterdam Science Park.

A big part of the celebration was looking back at the journey of our Villagers; Erik Boer interviewed Marco van der Werf from BIT about his experience, followed by Jakub Zavrel from Zeta Alpha, Najeeb Qazizada from CARGORS and Paul Koning from OurMind. Founders highlighted Startup Village’s energy, community and strong network as key to turning ideas from 0 to 1.

But a 10-year anniversary is also about looking ahead. Where do we want to be in the next years?

Rudi Rust, CEO of UvA Ventures Holding BV, Arjan Goudsblom of Techleap, and Joël Dori from StartupAmsterdam shared their perspectives on the current ecosystem and where we should go in the years ahead. And Femmie Geradts also shared Startup Village’s strategy, programmes and vision for the future - that can only be realised with the dedicated team behind it: Marc Bakker, Emmanuel Adedeji and Danielle Pakes, with support of UvA Ventures.

The celebration concluded with the unveiling of a special street artwork created in collaboration with STRAAT Museum, by artist YorkOne (Arjan Jansen). A special thank you Mat Cahill for helping explore the ideas behind this unique anniversary piece and bringing it to life.

And last but not least, the party crowd showed their love for Startup Village by getting a Startup Village tattoo! 💓

Thanks to the innovators, builders and founders who have been part of the Startup Village journey over the past decade. Here’s to the next 10 years of Science to Business, entrepreneurship and a thriving ecosystem!

The Nursery presents: Founder Sales Club.

Today, we hosted the Founder Sales Club workshop at Startup Village with Daniel Wardle.

Daniel is a London-based sales coach, entrepreneur and founder-led sales specialist. As the founder of The Founder Sales Club, he helps early-stage B2B founders sharpen their sales skills and build repeatable sales processes.

Our cohort joined an engaging session on one of the most critical parts of building a company: sales.

From sharpening sales approaches to turning conversations into real opportunities, Daniel shared practical insights founders could immediately apply to their businesses.

Beyond the workshop itself, it was great to see founders connect, exchange experiences and learn from one another.

Startup Village welcomes Air Cargo Netherlands with a long-term innovation program!

Yesterday, ACN Air Cargo Netherlands launched the Air Cargo Innovation Lab (ACIL), driving bold innovation in the air cargo industry. The exciting launch featured Maarten van As, MD of ACN who highlighted the need for a lab that fosters thinking differently, working differently, and experimenting at the core.

Femmie Geradts, MD of Startup Village Amsterdam Village, emphasized the power of bringing together talent, startups, and industry partners in a single ecosystem, hosted at Amsterdam Science Park.

The Air Cargo Innovation Lab (ACIL) is a joint initiative between ACN and Startup Village. As a three-year innovation program, it provides a space for experimentation and development, allowing new ideas and technologies to be tested and refined more quickly for broader application across the sector.

Keynote speaker Arjan Postma emphasized: “Complex systems can’t be controlled—you need to learn how to get them moving.”

ACN’s bold approach aligns with current societal and economic challenges, including the Plan Wennink and the current coalition’s policy plans. This positions ACN and the air cargo sector as proactive, innovative partners in strengthening the Dutch business climate.

As owner of the Smart Cargo Mainport Program at Schiphol, ACN demonstrates leadership through this forward-looking initiative—making the Dutch air cargo sector stronger, more innovative, and better connected than ever before.
