3FBio winner Bridge2Food Most Novel Protein Process Technology Award for their zero-waste process to produce mycoprotein!

3FBio was awarded winner Most Novel Process Technology for their zero-waste process to produce mycoprotein - making the most sustainable protein by “making more with less”. Using the naturally advantaged processes of biotechnology, 3F BIO’s innovation uses a zero-waste process to produce the market-proven ingredient mycoprotein, with transformative feed conversion resource efficiency. 3F BIO’s purpose is to tackle the issues of feeding a growing global population and the unsustainable impacts of traditional protein farming. By harnessing the protein producing power and feed efficiency of small organisms, 3F produce the most economically and environmentally sustainable high-quality.

Anne Wagner, R&D Director at Tereos Starch & Sweeteners said, “The judges felt that 3FBio’s product represents a key innovation, and significant market opportunity. As the demand for alternative protein products increases, the opportunity for sustainably produced new proteins grows”. The judges were very impressed with supporting data and level of detail provided by 3fBio. They felt, “Mycoprotein is a highly functional protein with very well documented properties. It is a novel and very relevant raw material for protein production.”

AVEBE winner Bridge2Food Most Novel Protein Ingredient for Perfectasol D520 texture solution for plant-based pizza topping!

Avebe was awarded Most Novel Protein Ingredient - Perfectasol D520 is a unique texture solution, based on potato starch and potato protein. It enables the creation of a 100% plant-based pizza topping with similar characteristics as real cheese: it is well shreddable and sliceable, it melts upon heating and exhibits stretch properties like real mozzarella. The dairy-free cheese is easy to prepare, using a high-shear mixer with simultaneous heating option. It has a neutral taste and colour, allowing you to develop any plant-based cheese type you like. Perfectasol D520 is 'clean label' , meaning no E-numbers, non-GMO and free from allergen labeling.

Stacy Pyett, Protein Manager, Wageningen University (Netherlands) said, “A great concept! The judges felt that Perfectasol D520 represented a compelling solution to the challenge of achieving great texture in a vegan product. By also delivering a clean label Avebe is answering the increasing demands of highly selective consumers”.

&samhoud winner of Bridge2Food Best Plant-Based Food Award with Tomato mince!

&samhoud food was the winner of Best Plant-Based Food. Tomato mince" is a vegetarian minced ‘meat’ made from tomato. Unlike similar products, no soy is used. It has a great bite and texture, while receiving is rich flavor from the veggies and natural spices. 62% of the product is vegetables. The products are packed with veggies, a rich source of fiber and proteins, and contains no artificial flavor additives, colorants or preservatives whatsoever.

Judge Greg Bonnefin, Group Director, Newly Weds Foods (Thailand) Ltd said, “This product is a natural tasting, convenient and very simply concept, which is more appetizing than many meat snacking options out on the market. “With the product tomato, &samhoud food has brought something different and more aspirational to the category”. Adding tomato is a real difference to making a good product, great!”.
