🫐 Big berries from Peru! 🇵🇪

Our Peruvian blueberry programme has been running since August, bringing hand-picked blueberries in a range of sizes to the European market.

Peru is known for its large blueberries, with sizes starting from +14 mm and premium selections of +18 mm and larger.

Available in bulk packaging and 12 × 125 g punnets, offering flexibility for different markets.

This year, El Niño is affecting production, particularly in northern Peru, resulting in lower fruit volumes. Despite these challenges, the season is expected to continue until January 2027.

🇲🇦 Joyce and Wilko van der Zwaard recently travelled through Morocco to visit growers and partners, with a clear mission: berries, avocados, greenhouse vegetables and citrus.

🫐 The first raspberries are almost ready, while blueberries will follow from December.
🥑 For avocados, we’re looking ahead to the Hass season from November.
🌶️ In Agadir, the focus was on peppers, Capia peppers, tomatoes, chillies and green beans – a promising addition to our Spanish greenhouse vegetable assortment.
🍊 The trip also gave us valuable insights into the upcoming citrus season, where unusually warm weather is expected to result in lower volumes.

A few busy days in a rapidly growing fresh produce region, with plenty of new opportunities ahead!

With their refreshing flavour and characteristic citrus taste, pomelos remain a popular addition to the European fruit assortment. A balanced supply and steady demand are contributing to a stable campaign.

🌰 Chestnut season has begon!

Last week marks the start of our Spanish and French chestnut season. Available in bags and 5 kg wooden crates, they’re ready to bring a true taste of autumn to the assortment.

And the season continues: in around six weeks, the first Chinese chestnuts will arrive, available in bags.

From fresh to dried: Cuello de Dama figs

We’re still in the season for our green Cuello de Dama figs, but preparations for the next step are already underway.

The same green figs are now being dried, creating a naturally sweet product that allows us to enjoy the fruit beyond the fresh season. From the end of September, the dried Cuello de Dama figs will be available in convenient 500 g bags.

Rojo Brillante season is almost here!

From the end of September, the first Rojo Brillante persimmons will be available again. Recognisable by their round shape and bright orange colour, these kaki fruits bring plenty of colour to the autumn assortment.

The fresh season runs through December. After harvest, the fruit can be stored under controlled conditions, extending availability until the end of January.

🍊 Mandarin demand is picking up!

With the summer holidays behind us, we’re seeing demand for mandarins increase again.

Coming from Peru, South Africa, Uruguay and Chile, our current selection includes some of the season’s tastiest varieties: Nadorcott, Tango and Orri. Three deep-orange varieties known for their juicy, flavourful character and mostly seedless fruit.

And the season is far from over. We’ll continue receiving mandarins until mid-November, by which time the first new Spanish crop will already be arriving. 🇪🇸

Recently, Alejandro visited our partners in Peru, an important origin for our mandarins, grapes, pomegranates and blueberries. 🍊🍇🫐

The trip was all about catching up with our partners and making plans for the seasons ahead. This year, El Niño is having a major impact. Winter temperatures in Peru have been unusually high, and lower volumes are expected across all four product groups.

Being there in person gives us valuable insights into the local situation and helps us prepare together with our partners for what’s ahead.
