South African juicing orange season is about to begin. 🍊🇿🇦

The first early Valencia varieties, such as Tomango and Benny Valencia, are expected to depart in week 22/23 from the northern growing regions near the Zimbabwean border.

Sizing is looking strong, with the early varieties traditionally starting slightly larger. As the regular Valencia season progresses, sizes are expected to move towards the well-known 72/88 range.

The season starts in the north and gradually moves through regions such as Tzaneen, Letsitele and Mpumalanga, before continuing towards the Eastern and Western Cape.

With this spread of growing regions, arrivals are expected from week 25/26 through to week 46, ensuring a long and stable season.

Celebrating 5 years at Wilko Fruit. 🎉

Today we celebrate Michael Kouwenberg and his journey within the Van der Zwaard family.

Michael’s story goes back even further. His connection with the family started generations ago, when both families were neighbours. He began his career at Zwaardfruit B.V., where he successfully set up export to Scandinavia.

After gaining experience at Jaguarfresh Company and SFI, Michael returned and has been a familiar and trusted face ever since. A true team player, with a wealth of experience and someone you can always rely on. He also has a natural way of connecting with people, often over a good dinner and a glass of wine. 🍷

Cherry season is looking strong this year. 🍒

Thanks to the cooler weather, we’re seeing excellent quality with high sugar levels and larger calibres compared to previous seasons.

We are working with varieties such as Mimba, Red Pacific, California 2 and Chelan, ensuring a consistent and high-quality supply.

Available in: 2 kg, 5 kg, 10x500 g & 10x400 g
With our own packing facilities, we can respond flexibly to different market needs.

The season runs from mid-April until early September, starting in the early regions of Jumilla, followed by Lleida, Caspe, Calatayud and Teruel. 🇪🇸

Recently, Alejandro and Michael visited one of our blueberry partners in Romania to see how the upcoming season is developing. 🇷🇴

The fields are looking strong, with varieties like Duke, Bluegold and Legacy setting the stage for a promising harvest from week 28 to 32.
