🗣 Today we introduce the latest addition to the Omnigen team, Kim Lensing, intern within our project ‘ISOLATE’ (DIagnoStic tOol Liver cAncer TreatmEnt).

"Hi! My name is Kim!

I am 23 years old, and I am a Master's student in Bioinformatics at Wageningen University & Research. As the last part of my Master's, I will do my internship at Omnigen.

In the upcoming months, I will be working on the ISOLATE project, where I will look for genetic markers that can predict liver cancer patients’ response to Sorafenib.

This could potentially lead to the development of a diagnostic tool that is able to distinguish responders from non-responders of treatment with Sorafenib among liver cancer patients.

I am excited about this opportunity, to do my internship at Omnigen, and I am sure I will learn a lot of new skills from Omnigen’s team!"

✅ This project in which we collaborate with Levels Diagnostics has been granted the MIT R&D collaboration grant by Provincie Zuid-Holland.

Last Friday, Omnigen had its team outing 🔥

For one day we got to experience what it's like to be a firefighter, which proved that teamwork does make the dream work!

🗣 Today we introduce our latest addition to the team, Jantina Eefting, front-end developer trainee.

"My name is Jantina, and I am currently a front-end developer trainee for Omnigen. I have a background in sciences, but I would like to move into the Web and App Development field.

Through this traineeship, I will sharpen my skills in React.js, and learn Angular and Symphony PHP to broaden my technologies knowledge base. My goal for the next six months is to soak up as much information as I possibly can and learn field-specific skills from my colleagues.

I am incredibly excited about the next six months, because everything is new, and I am going to learn so much!"

🗣 Today we introduce our latest addition to the team, Julian van Toledo, intern within the PITA (Pancreatic Insightful Treatment Analysis) project.

"Hi there, my name is Julian, I’m 22 years old and currently in my last year of the Bioinformatics and Systems Biology Master program at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

Omnigen has given me an exciting opportunity to work together with the Erasmus MC on validating a technique to improve the performance of machine learning models that can predict the survival of pancreatic cancer patients.

By letting the survival prediction model learn from different cancers I hope to see an overall improvement in performance on predicting survival in pancreatic cancer, and in the end provide a robust method to improve performance for prediction models for many years to come."

🚶 9.8 million to determine optimal physical activity for knee osteoarthritis patients

To more than 750,000 Dutch people who have knee osteoarthritis, the general advice is to stay active. But whether a 30 minute walk is optimal, or perhaps cycling twice a week, remains unclear.

With a budget of 9.8 million the consortium of the LoaD project, including associate professor at Erasmus MC, Marienke van Middelkoop, hopes to be able to personalise this advice.

"My name is Lynn!

I’m an aspiring software developer with a passion for the flair of front-end development, aiming to become a jack-of-all-trades of the software world. I love working with people, exciting new technologies, and come armed with an armory of formidable puns.

Currently, I’m working as an all-around junior developer tackling a diverse array of projects and challenges under Omnigen. My present goal is to improve the website component of the PITA project, ensuring it is secure and accessible for future distribution; but also extendable for future development."

💬 “It becomes more paramount to connect companies like Omnigen to the Massachusetts network”

In the beginning of February, Omnigen went on a mission to Boston for the SLAS2022 International Conference and Exhibition, organised and financed by DIGI-B-CUBE.
