Via Grandma's Design: AND THE NOMINEES ARE.......

The jury day in Amsterdam determined the shortlist of designers and their concepts. Each participant submitted a poster visualising a new food design concept inspired by a traditional recipe of their choice. AND THE NOMINEES ARE........*drum roll*

The European Design Centre (EDC) with offices in ‘s Hertogenbosch and Eindhoven is a creative research lab operating at the intersection of ICT, creativity and design. We lead research initiatives, develop profitable projects and create spin-off businesses. EDC is managing a number of European projects in the field of Creative Industry support, E-Learning, Sustainable Fashion and Cultural entrepreneurship. To support our growth we are looking for a:

Trainee in European Project Management

Who should apply?
The job would suit someone who just graduated (University of Higher Vocational Education level) in the fields of Project Management, (Technical) Business Administration or Strategic Communication. The right candidate has practical knowledge of, or affinity with project management, particularly in international contexts, including project communication and administration and the management of multidisciplinary teams. You would be responsible for project planning, project ex*****on, post processing and project status reporting. You would also be responsible for communication needs identification, delivery to project support and ex*****on of reconciled communication measures and you are also having the responsibility for the project team. The successful applicant should be able to work accurately and precisely and have an excellent eye for detail. You will be supervised by a senior staff member but are expected to work autonomously on an operational level. You will be trained on the job to grow to the position of junior project manager. Affinity with cultural and creative industries is considered a plus.

What will be the core responsibilities of this traineeship?

- Project set-up and milestone definition. Allocation of team members, responsibilities and timeframe.
- Ex*****on of project in time, budget and quality as described in the project plan.
- Administration and reporting to project assigner (European Commission).
- Creating tools for the project.
- Promote projects within international networks and at public events.
- Secure the completion of all set deliverables, setup of contingency actions.
- Guarantee the adherence to technical, economical and quality parameters.
- Knowledge management & project documentation.

Required education and skills
- The selected applicant should have a University of Higher Vocational Education level in the fields of Project Management, (Technical) Business Administration or Strategic Communication.
- Experience in cultural and creative industries would be considered a plus.
- The applicant must master English and preferably a second European language (Dutch preferred).
- The applicant must feel comfortable with deadlines, stress management and public appearances and presentations.
- Experience in Project Management or a comparable position will be experienced as a plus.

Benefits
During the first year of traineeship you will receive a minimum salary while you develop the skills and knowledge connected to the role of Junior Project Manager. Upon successful completion the right candidate can be offered a position in our company.

The European Design Centre (EDC), with offices in‘s Hertogenbosch and Eindhoven is a creative research lab operating at the intersection of ICT, creativity and design. We lead research initiatives, develop profitable projects and create spin-off businesses in the creative industry. Some of our current European projects aim at providing access to finance for - and stimulating entrepreneurial skills in - the Creative industry. To further support the Project Management team we are looking for a Business modeling and incubation expert for 2 to 3 days a week.

Qualifications:

- Have a University Degree or greater level qualification(s);
- Have direct experience of having worked in/with the culture and creative industries sector;
- Have at least 5 years industry based experience in the undertaking of business modelling and analysis activities and techniques, such as using the business model canvas;
- Have at least 2 years industry based experience in business incubation, involving advising and/or mentoring start-up companies covering key areas such as creative entrepreneurialism, innovation translation, networking and especially access to finance;
- Be highly proficient in English language based oral and written communication skills, especially in regard to facilitating workshops and presenting;
- Be an experienced team player who can demonstrate task leadership and an attention to detail in their work;
- Be comfortable working in a multi-disciplined, multi-cultural and dispersed team, which heavily relies upon a range of digital communication tools for collaboration and delivery of joint objectives;
- Be willing to travel to various European destinations as part of project activities.

Desirable:

-Direct experience of having worked with or advised digital businesses with an education, tourism, design and/or social media based specialism;
- Have an interest in cultural heritage;
- Have previous experience of organizing creative industry events for entrepreneurs and investors;
- Have previous experience of working with public administrations and in European Commission co-financed projects;
- Experience in project management.
