Hebomoia Glaucippe Celebensis 🪽✨
Hebomoia glaucippe celebensis is a subspecies of the butterfly Hebomoia glaucippe and belongs to the white butterfly family (Pieridae). This butterfly is found on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi, also known as Celebes.
The butterfly has mainly white wings with striking orange and black markings. The underside of its wings has a beautiful and distinctive pattern✨
Hebomoia glaucippe celebensis lives in tropical forests and warm, wooded areas. Adult butterflies mainly feed on nectar from flowers. The caterpillars feed on plants from the Capparaceae family. After several stages of growth, they form a chrysalis and develop into adult butterflies🦋
This special butterfly is part of the rich biodiversity of Sulawesi🌏

Cynopterus titthaecheilus 🦇✨
As dusk falls over the dense forests of Java and Sumatra, a remarkable mammal awakens: the Indonesian short-nosed fruit bat. While many people associate bats with spooky stories, this species is actually a peaceful vegetarian. It feeds almost exclusively on juicy fruits, nectar, and leaves. By dispersing the seeds of these fruits across the island through its droppings, this bat unwittingly acts as a crucial ‘flying gardener,’ helping to reforest Indonesia. 🫐🍃
Anyone who takes a closer look at this bat will quickly notice its unique appearance. The species stands out due to the subtle, snow-white edges along its ears, which contrast sharply against its dark head. Furthermore, there is a distinct difference between the sexes. The males proudly sport a striking, bright rust-orange collar of stiff hairs around their neck and shoulders, looking as if they are wearing a royal mantle. In females, this collar is much paler and less prominent. 🦇
Unlike many other bat species that crawl deep into dark caves, the Indonesian short-nosed fruit bat prefers to sleep outside in the trees. They often form small, cozy colonies under large leaves or near human settlements. Despite increasing deforestation in their habitat, this resilient species adapts surprisingly well. They are not shy around humans at all and are regularly spotted in fruit orchards, where they gratefully feast on the local harvest. 👨‍🌾
