An active coal plant in the Osnabrück region in Germany is about to become a 25 MW wood waste-fired CHP facility. Construction has started, and with it, 65,000 tonnes of CO2 will be cut from this industrial site every year.

As carbon prices rise and fossil energy costs stay volatile, the case for a fixed, CO2-neutral energy price becomes clearer. Our Energy-as-a-Service model makes exactly that possible: HoSt takes on the investment, the permitting, and the long-term operations. Our partner receives reliable, renewable heat and power from day one.

A true groundbreaking moment. Construction has officially started on our 25 MW wood waste-fired CHP plant in the Osnabrück region.

"This project serves as another example of how industrial users can offtake their essential energy needs sustainably." Tjeerd Smit, Executive Director, HoSt Group.

The plant replaces a coal-fired facility previously operated by our industrial partner. Under our Energy-as-a-Service model, HoSt carries the investment and long-term operations, so our partner can focus on what they do best.
The impact:

▸ Saves 65,000 tons of CO2 annually.
▸ Delivers 30 tons of high-temperature steam per hour.
▸ The industrial user avoids upfront investment.
▸ Powered by locally sourced waste wood.

Spring is in the air, flowers are blooming, and our repowering project, Formigara in Italy, reached mechanical completion.🌱

At Formigara, we have successfully achieved mechanical completion of the digesters, along with the mechanical completion of the upgrading unit. We are currently awaiting the completion of electrical works by the client before moving forward with cold and hot commissioning phases.
