Next to the Masterclass Legal Basics by Jeffrey van Nuland and Stijn Blom from Boels Zanders, this week was all about building an operational plan. An operational plan contains all actions you need to further develop your company. It is based upon the validation of the business model based on the beach head customer segment and the value proposition that belongs to it. It also gives a clear insight in the investment needs for the next year.

We also again experienced the great impact the venture experts make. This week Ron Ainsbury from New Zealand, presented together with Kamal the first responses of their consumer customers questionnaire.

Being ready for investments, is part of the foundation of every start-up. During the 2nd Investment Readiness Masterclass, we have provided a unique investment summary template which each start-up can use as a basis for all investment related documents. Ubald gave the masterclass Market Research in this week Redefining Chemistry program. Besides the start-ups also worked on their first steps towards investment readiness. We have seen great progress this week with all the start-ups, which made choosing a winner realty tough.

Being visible and findable is key to reach your customers. Therefore two start-ups have changed their name: Crocinsweet became Nutrocin and EliBiTec is the new name for Elitex.

In week 7 of Redefining Chemistry Digital, the start-ups presented their weekly progress to each other and their venture experts. Main topic was the value proposition, where we had deep dive sessions last week. After these 7 weeks the value proposition of the start-ups becomes stronger and stronger. Beside the value proposition there are two highlights to mention:

Oscillum signed an LOI with an industrial partner
ETB works on a project with both an university and an industrial partner

Today we welcomed Plastformance at the masterclass of Redefining Chemistry Digital. In again a interactive session we dived into Customer Relations. Starting with creating awareness and gaining interest and moving into sales. And last but not least keep your customers with you.

Plastformance won the BIF Support Package at the HTGF Redefining Chemistry Pitch day in February in Frankfurt.

Last week we started the digital edition of Redefining Chemistry spring 2020.
Traditionally in that first week we match the start-ups with venture experts during Venture Expert Day.

This edition we also organize Venture Expert day digitally. It was great to see the pitches of the start-ups and lively discussions with the venture experts.
Obviously we missed the physical interactions, but the outcome was great. Matches were made and the start-ups can start their second week with stronger teams supported by various experts.

For months we have been planning our spring 2020 Redchem program to start Monday April 6th. We could have anticipated no scenario in which the world would be in the massive Covid-19 driven crisis this spring.

The disruptive solutions that chemistry and material startups come up with, have the potential to create a better, safer and more sustainable world. At the Brightlands Chemelot Campus, we believe that integration of these start-ups in the ecosystem at Chemelot and the Brightlands Chemelot campus is key for their and our success.

We have therefore been working day and night to find a safe yet valuable solution for the Redefining Chemistry participants, connected Venture Experts and everyone at the Brightlands Chemelot Campus at the peak of the Covid-19 crisis.
