A look back at the 2026 Cannes Yachting Festivall!
Great conversations, inspiring partners, and a shared passion for building better marine energy solutions.

Take a look at our aftermovie, we sat down with some of the partners and shipyards we work with Yanmar Europe Marine International, Asea Nautica at Azimut Yachts, SAMAR Yachts and Chantier Naval Borg, to hear about their experience with MG Energy Systems and what matters most w hen it comes to marine energy solutions.

A big thank you to everyone who visited us and made this edition special
And a special thanks to Sevenstar Yacht Transport and NautiStyles for an amazing Friday evening!

Electrifying a vessel is about more than replacing a diesel engine with a battery.

Every vessel has different requirements, power and energy needs to available space, charging cycles and ES-TRIN requirements.

That’s where a modular battery system makes a difference.

For PK Waterbouw, the same MG battery packs can be configured for different vessels and applications, from powering a tugboat to providing energy for a crane on the quayside.

The modular approach allows the battery system to adapt as the application changes.

In maritime electrification, the challenge isn't simply choosing a battery. It's having a battery system that can adapt to the requirements of the application.

Can you charge 188 ships with sunshine?

PK Waterbouw in Amsterdam just proved you can.
Every morning at seven, their entire fleet of tugboats, crane ships, and barges is fully charged from a 1 MW solar grid.
No diesel generators.
No grid dependency.
Just stored energy from the sun.

With 188 vessels and an 80% emission-free fleet, PK Waterbouw is the largest electric water transport operator in the Netherlands.

Their secret? MG Energy Systems B.V. battery packs that swap between vessels like tools in a toolbox.

The same modular technology that powers a 1923 barge also runs a modern crane ship.

And when construction crews in Amsterdam need power where no grid exists? They borrow PK's battery packs.

"We have proven that you can do it. So if I can do it, somebody else can do it as well." - André Krijger, Owner PK Waterbouw

The most valuable solar energy isn’t what you generate. It’s what you actually use.

A familiar challenge many businesses face: generating more solar energy than they can use. Then relying on the grid when production still needs power.

Mannen van Staal solved that challenge with the help of MG Energy Systems, Off Grid Factory and project manager Gerke Draaisma
Instead of adapting their operations to the grid, they adapted their energy system to their business.

Their energy independence extends beyond production. Their entire electric vehicle fleet is charged using the same solar panels and battery system.

Now they have less waste. Less grid dependence. More control. And more value from every kWh you produce.

That’s what happens when your energy system starts working around your business, not the other way around.

Watch how they made it happen: https://www.mgenergysystems.eu/en/the-mg-story-of/the-mg-story-of-mannen-van-staal/?utm_source=Facebook&utm_medium=blog+mannen+van+staal&utm_campaign=Story+of+Mannen+van+Staal&utm_id=MG+Story+of+Mannen+van+Staal

Can a factory run on sunshine alone, even at night? 🌞➡️🌙

Mannen van Staal in Leeuwarden produces three times more solar energy than it needs during the day.
But without storage, that surplus was lost every evening.

So they installed a 500 kWh MG Energy Systems B.V. battery system.
Now their solar panels charge the battery during the day, and the factory runs on stored solar power all night long.
No grid. No gas. Just sunlight, stored and deployed on demand.

"We produce our own energy, store our own energy, and we are completely independent." - Simon Zijlstra, co-owner Mannen van Staal

Check out the full story of how a metal fabrication company turned its solar surplus into 24/7 independence. 👇

What happens when you replace a 150 kW diesel engine with a fully electric system?

Conrad Stanen BV did exactly that with their drilling rig:

🔹 375 kWh MG LFP battery system (16 modules)
🔹MG Master BMS for monitoring and protection
🔹Parker electric motors and inverters
🔹Up to 2 days of operation without charging
🔹Replacing a 150 kW diesel engine

Same drilling performance. Less noise. Zero emissions.

This is what full-system electrification looks like when it’s done right.
