SRAL is a renowned conservation studios in the Netherlands working both, for public and private collections within the province of Limburg as well as on a national and international level. Its main activities are regrouped in three pillars that form the core business of SRAL namely: Atelier; Academy and Agency. With a modern and well-equipped studio, SRAL offers expert knowledge in the conservatio

n and restoration of paintings, painted objects, sculptures, historic interiors, and modern art. The Institute is staffed with a dynamic team of international conservators and provides around ten internship placements per year for recently graduated conservators as well as training opportunities to those students enrolled in the Conservation of Cultural Heritage course at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) at Masters and Postgraduate levels. The conservation studios are housed in a spacious and recently refurbished historic industrial building which also contains a laboratory, photo studio and analytical research facilities. Conservation projects are carried out on traditional paintings, modern works of art, and large projects such as monumental historic interiors both in the studios and ‘on-site’. Additionally to the conservation studio in the historic Wiebengahal, SRAL also works in an open studio at Bonnefanten Museum, where museum visitors can have a glimpse of the daily practice of a conservator. Staff conservators are encouraged to carry out research projects using the facilities available and the Institute is committed to the personal and professional development of its staff.
