Early spring we received an order from an Italian client to design and construct a new research set up. The client asked us if we could deliver the system in July so they could start their first experiments in August. This task should be difficult in a world globally affected by COVID-19. We couldn’t go to Italy to physically assess the workspace. So we had to get creative on how we would accurately do a full overview of the room, doors, piping system and electrical system. How? We made it work based on drawings, pictures, videos and trusting our skills as a team. Using all this information we managed to create a 3D model of the situation, which we used for the full design of the new toxicology research set up.

See it for yourself below and stay tuned to hear about the following steps.

We feel pleased to announce that the Aquaculture and Fisheries group of Wageningen University & Research has chosen us as partner for the design and construction of experimental units for trials on fish nutrition. The complete assigment includes the construction of 24 circular fish tanks with variable volume (150 – 380 L), adjusting the existing recirculation system and connecting the fish tanks to this system. With this new system Wageningn UR can perform trials with completely controlled predefined conditions in fresh, marine, cold or warm water environment. On the picture a prototype of the unit is shown. Our team of engineers is finalizing the design and we are planning to start the construction soon.

The aquaria racks of the Xenopus husbandry systems are coated and are currently further assembled in our workshop. The systems will be completely built up and tested in our workshop before they will be shipped to our customer in Switzerland. The racks will be divided over two rooms (5 racks per room), one room equipped for housing Xenopus tropicalis, one for housing Xenopus laevis. Inside each room two ZEBCARE filtration units will be placed connected to respectively two and three racks. The photo shows how the systems will be placed in the rooms.

We’re proud of the end result of the RAS African catfish pre ongrowing system which we have built together with our German customer. By efficiently making use of the height of the building and the use of squared tanks available space was used as efficient as possible. The system will be used to annually pre grow approximately 265.000 fingerlings into juvenile fish of about 160 gram.
