🌱 Our new bamboo workshop in Kiboga is officially complete!

Here, harvested bamboo will be treated, cured, and processed into high-quality poles, the foundation for our future eco-friendly building materials, furniture, and sustainable products. Once processed, these poles will be transferred to our upcoming workshop in Kampala, where final product creation and deliveries will take place!

Why is this workshop so important to our mission?

👉 Processing bamboo locally creates jobs and economic opportunities within the community.

👉 It brings us one step closer to carbon-negative building materials made right here in Uganda.

👉 High-quality bamboo poles pave the way for durable, eco-friendly housing.

🌱 We schalen onze koolstofverwijdering in Oeganda op met bamboe en biochar!

Bij Bamboo Village Uganda breiden we onze bamboeplantages uit, terwijl we onze infrastructuur opschalen voor de productie van biochar en biobased bouwmaterialen.

At Bamboo Village Uganda, we are scaling up our bamboo plantations across hundreds of hectares while expanding our infrastructure to produce biochar and bio-based building materials.

This is part of a larger plan to develop a sustainable Bamboo Village, including residential housing, where bamboo is sustainably grown, carbon is stored for the long term, and biomass is transformed into valuable products.

Progress update from Kibale! ✨

Construction on our brand-new school is well underway, and energy on site is at an all-time high! The local kids are already stopping by to see the magic happen.

Creating a safe place for education is one of the most rewarding parts of our work in Uganda. The foundation is set, walls are going up, and we are getting closer every single day! 🏫

We have some incredible news to share from our operations in Uganda: Construction is officially underway for a brand-new school for our children in Kibale! ✨

And the best part? It will be finished within just 1 month!

At Bamboo Village, our mission goes far beyond planting bamboo and removing CO₂ from the atmosphere. True sustainability means investing in the people and local communities that make this work possible. 🤝

By building safe, accessible educational spaces in Kibale, we are ensuring that the next generation has the tools, knowledge, and environment they need to thrive.

Stay tuned, we can't wait to share the final result and photos of the grand opening next month! 🎉

They certainly got the full "safari massage" - bumping and bouncing along in a jeep over Uganda’s dirt roads. His back was quite sore at times, but Teake Damstra didn't mind one bit. It allowed him to see with his own eyes what his investment really means for the heart of the African countryside. How growing a single plant can breathe completely new life into an entire community.

Damstra, CEO of Royal Damstra Installation Group in Driezum, is one of the investors in Bamboo Village, alongside a few other entrepreneurs from the region. The group jokingly calls themselves the "bamboo farmers." Brought together by Peter Poelman, a used building materials trader from Grootegast, they have already planted 200 hectares of land.

Bamboo is the building material of the future - and in Africa, that holds true in every sense of the word. A group of entrepreneurs with deep roots in the North is investing heavily in it.

🌿🎒 A special day at Bamboo Village

Smiles, songs and a shared moment with the children after receiving school materials and small bags. 📚✨

The children brought so much energy to the day, singing, dancing and showing their new school items. It was lovely to see their excitement and to share a moment with them.

We hope these materials will be useful in their school days and we are grateful to have been part of a day filled with so much joy. 💚

📍Two days at European Bamboo Expo 2026

European Bamboo Expo 2026 brought together two inspiring days of conversations, presentations, new connections, and shared interest in the future of bamboo. 🌱

It was a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas, learn from others in the bamboo community, and speak about the role bamboo can play in sustainability.

A special thank you to the team, Iraklis Kalamenios, and for organising the event and bringing this community together.

🎋 European Bamboo Expo, Day 1

Day 1 was all about meeting people, sharing ideas, and joining conversations on the future of bamboo.

As part of the programme, Henri Potze gave a session on “What Is the Value of Bamboo Carbon Credits?”, sharing more about Bamboo Village and the value bamboo plantations can create.

We are happy to be here as Bamboo Village, learning from others, sharing our work, and being part of a growing international bamboo community. 🌍

🌱 From young saplings to future harvests.

At our bamboo plantation in Uganda, we are growing more than bamboo. We are planting coffee, jackfruit, avocado, banana, oranges, soursop and cocoa as part of our biodiversity efforts.

Each plant has its own role in creating a richer, healthier ecosystem.

We also hope that one day, these fruits can be used to create fresh juices for children, made from what grows on the land itself.

With every sapling, we are growing something for the land and for the people around it. 🍊🥑
