Vandaag was het Dijkwerkersdag. Alle partijen - van overheid, uitvoerders tot productontwikkelaars- waren vandaag bijeen om ervaringen uit te wisselen over hoe Nederland water veilig gemaakt kan worden. Dat is nog een hele opgave! Vandaag in het 18u journaal wordt de opgave geschetst met op de achtergrond mooi de Hillblocks voor project Delfzijl. Volgens Deltacommissaris Peter Glas moeten we haast maken en 1km dijk per dag aanleggen..dus geen tijd voor Dijkwerkersdag, niet lullen maar poetsen!

Vandaag helaas het trieste nieuws vernomen dat Yvo Provoost is overleden. Voor ons is hij dé man achter de ontwikkeling en introductie van het Hillblock.
Urenlang zaten Hans en hij te brainstormen en te discussiëren over wat een goede zetsteen voor de Nederlandse kust kon zijn.
Yvo, we zullen je kennis, expertise en geweldige persoonlijkheid missen.
We wensen de familie ontzettend veel sterkte in deze moeilijke tijd.

Team Van Oord has successfully completed an innovative scheme to provide improved protection from flooding to households, infrastructure, agricultural land and an area of outstanding natural beauty within the Severn Estuary.

Using their extensive knowledge and links to the Netherlands, Team Van Oord identified the Hillblock block flood protection system – new to the UK but extensively tried and tested in the Netherlands – as the most cost-effective and appropriate option.
