Rob's Prop Shop Rob's Prop Shop was founded in 1986 in Amsterdam by Rob Hillenbrink, after working 15 years at the Dutch Opera Company.

In 2002 we moved to Purmerend where our new build workshop with over 280 sq meters facilitates all our needs even better. After graduating at the Dutch Film Academy in 2008 Erik Hillenbrink joined the company, turning it into a familly business. With over 40 years of combined experiences, Rob's Prop Shop can provide to all your needs, whether it's for film, television, theater, photography or muse

um. During the last 15 years Rob's Prop Shop has worked on more than 100 films either national and international films. We are specialized in Special Make-Up effects, Creature Effects, Animatronics and Special Props. No project is too small or too large for us and we offer a wide range of services, from concept design until final product. Eather the budget is large or small we work with the same passion and enthusiasm to accomplish the director's dreams.

One of the biggest projects we’ve taken on in the past 10 years: creating a life-size T. rex for Naturalis Biodiversity Center.

We were commissioned by .decor to realize the exterior of the dinosaur, while the full mechanical drive and motion control were engineered by Berkelaer MT.

The T. rex was built using a combination of hard and soft materials. All moving elements were executed in foam latex, while the static sections were finished with a thin epoxy shell. The breathing mechanism in the nose and the blinking eyes were developed by Vincent Mensink.

To finetune the pose we made 3 iterations as a scale model 1:10. This way it is easier and more tangible to look at instead of looking at the 3D model om a screen. It is also a great way to present it to your client! Printen on the mega 8ks.

This project is close to my heart.
The denim gorilla by Darwin, Sinke & Van Tongeren, in collaboration with G-Star unveiled yesterday is the result almost a year of dedicated work for us— much of it behind the scenes.

We had the pleasure of contributing to the digital sculpting, from creating the first scale models to 3D printing the larger than life gorilla, with every muscle seperately to constructing it with detachable arms and legs for the ease of transportation. Proud to have supported the process in a way through digital modelling and 3D printing and craftmanship!

To create a good likeness for .stunts to resemble we not only mad a silicone mask but also a body suit and silicone gloves. Moulds printed on the mk3s and cast in ecoflex 0020!

After wrapping the move Dick Maas asked me if I could make a 80’s inspired “action figure” of the 2 leading actors and . I modelled them in and printed them on my resin printer .Fun to do!!
