Calling all female travellers - we are looking for feedback on how to make backpacking feel safer and fairer on women!

We've been working with Libere Di Viaggiare (an Italian female empowerment group), Ostello Bello, and Gender Responsible Tourism on a survey to understand how women really experience hostel travel: the safety, the comfort, the things that work, and the things that don't. Because travelling as a woman means thinking about things others don't have to, and it's time we had the data to back that up.

Who is booking your beds? Are you working with OTAs, travel agencies, or is it AI bots?

ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and others could become travel agents themselves, cutting out OTAs instead of partnering with them.

Travel agencies like Expedia, Booking.com, and Trip.com risk becoming fulfillment arms of major AI chatbots with current trends.

The OTA model calls for travelers to join their loyalty programs, tap links from advertisers, and tack on extras. It’s likely that agentic AI will trigger a marketing competition between the major chatbots and OTA’s standalone agentic AI features.

The Rise of Circular Solutions ♻️ The shift from a linear “take-make-waste” economy toward a circular one is accelerating in 2025. Startups are leading the way, driven by younger consumers who increasingly prefer renting, repairing, or reusing over buying new. 💡

Companies which rent and refurbish are highlighting a broader movement toward durability and re-circulation.

What it means for hospitality: 📌📋
Circular practices are becoming essential: furniture leasing, textile recycling, refillable amenities, product repair schemes, and partnerships for waste-to-resource systems will grow. Guests increasingly expect to see circularity, not just read about it. 🤓
