Royal DSM N.V. and TUDelft are establishing an Artificial Intelligence Lab for Biosciences (the AI4B.io Lab).

This laboratory will be the first of its kind in Europe to apply artificial intelligence (AI) to full-scale biomanufacturing, from microbial strain development to process optimization and scheduling

Professor Marcel Reinders, Director TU Delft Bioengineering Institute: ‘’Biotechnology can contribute significantly to solving major societal challenges, such as climate change, healthy nutrition for the world’s rapidly growing population, and raw material scarcity.

AI plays a crucial role in the development of biotechnology applications, but – scientifically speaking – there are still many unanswered questions at the cellular, lab, and process level.

By linking our fundamental research to concrete opportunities at DSM, we can maximize our impact.”

ABB has announced a new hub for electric vehicle research in Delft. The lab will house 120 specialists working on next-generation solutions.

Designed to spur further innovations in e-mobility, the facility is based at the TU Delft Campus. The new lab will drive ABB’s future portfolio development, as well as R&D projects for EVs and strengthens the innovation infrastructure for future mobility at Researchlab Automated Driving Delft, The Green Village and RoboValley which are also located at the TU Delft Campus.

The lab will house 120 specialists working on next-generation solutions. The facility is based at the TU Delft campus, where Researchlab Autonomous Driving Delft, the Green Village and Robohouse provide extensive talent, knowledge and facilities.

Port of Rotterdam has introduced an incentive scheme to support innovative projects involving alternative fuels in sea-going shipping.

The ultimate goal: a considerable reduction in CO₂ emissions. The incentive scheme is meant to boost projects that are difficult to get off the ground without financial support. The scheme, for which a total of € 5 million is available, will run until the end of 2022.

The Port of Rotterdam Authority offers an incentive scheme to accelerate the transition to alternative, climate-friendly fuels.
