My sincere thanks to you all for your empathy and understanding during this incredibly difficult time. It's hard to imagine moving forward without Els by my side, both as a dear friend and as an invaluable business partner. Losing her is deeply painful and also presents significant challenges for our business. Your support is truly appreciated as we work through this period of grief and transition. She will be greatly missed.

It is with great sorrow that we must inform you all that our partner, friend and co-founder of Tulip Expats Services, Els de Buvry, passed away on June 13.

Friends and family will bid her farewell at a private ceremony later this week.

The planned rail strike for Thursday has been cancelled, but NS services will still be reduced due to pre-existing preparations for potential disruption. The strike was cancelled because the unions failed to provide 36 hours' notice as required. Thousands of rail users are eligible to claim compensation for travel costs incurred during previous strikes on Friday and Tuesday.

If you have young children, please be aware of a serious problem with Haribo Happy Cola F!ZZ. A child is in coma after eating these sweets which apparently were cannabis-laced. The authorities and Haribo are investigating how cannabis ended up in the sweets. There has been a nationwide recall of this product since a similar incident last month.

Dutch citizens have been strongly advised by the Nederlandsche Bank, the Ministry of Finance and consumer organisations to have 70 euros in cash at home, in case digital payment transactions suddenly come to a complete standstill. The advice is prompted by increased geopolitical tensions and cyber threats. Consumers must be prepared for emergency situations in which payment transactions are interrupted for 72 hours.

Many housing websites charge flat-hunters a monthly subscription fee which is often undisclosed or hidden in the website's FAQ section. These fees result in a significant waste of money, with over 40% of surveyed participants unsure what they were paying for and a staggering 87% unable to secure housing through these sites.
