Workshop by Paolo Cremonesi about 'Materials and Methods for Surface Cleaning and Removal of Film-Forming Materials'. Three days theoretical lectures in the morning and practical sessions in the afternoon. Organised by Nora van der Veer, on a very nice location in Haarlem; Teylers museum. Sixteen conservators from the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain and Poland joined the workshop.
Cremonesi started explaining the unique properties of water. Went on to discuss the surfaces we mostly work in painting conservation. These are often porous and degraded. Combining the possibility to adapt the water to serve the cleaning or the removal of paintings. His way of teaching is very organised, detailed and relaxed. . Cremonesi answered all our questions.
After three days of absorbing information, I was loaded with new insights. I improved my knowledge of the systems I already work with since my first workshop by Richard Wolbers in 2007.
