In Memory of H.M. King Harald V
1937–2026
Today, Norway has lost its King.
With the passing of H.M. King Harald V, a long and significant chapter in Norwegian history has come to an end. For more than three decades on the throne, he was a unifying figure — a King who met his people with warmth, humour, dignity and a profound sense of duty.
He stood with Norway in moments of celebration and during times of great sorrow. He will be remembered by many as a warm and deeply human King, with a profound love for Norway and the Norwegian people.
Today, our thoughts are first and foremost with Queen Sonja, the Royal Family, and everyone who was close to King Harald.
Thank you for your service.
Thank you for the memories.
Thank you for everything you have meant to Norway.
Rest in peace, Your Majesty.
H.M. King Harald V
21 February 1937 – 28 August 2026
